Lung Mets--does the coughing ever stop?!

Hi all!

Due to recurring malignant pleural and pericardial effusions, I had a pericardial window surgery and also a pleurodesis. My oncologist says my lungs sound good but I cannot stop coughing! The pleural effusions have been resolved so I don't know what the problem could be. I was prescribed codeine cough medicine but have not taken it yet. I'm hoping it works but obviously this won't be a long term solution. Should I see a pulmonologist? Are there any respiratory treatments to help with coughing and shortness of breath due to lung mets?

Thanks in advance! :D

Yes, by all means see a pulmonologist. You have no idea what might be going on (allergies, COPD, the after-effects of a bad cold) and a specialist can help. FYI, a cough can continue for a while after problems have resolved because the lungs are so sensitive. See someone who is a lung expert!

Are you on any blood pressure pills? There are some known for that cough reaction....wecalled it the capoten cough and people had to change meds.
