Skookum- I see my MO on Monday and he has mentioned that we will talk about Arimidex, but I think that I will refuse. He's stated that's will only decrease my reoccurrence chances by 2%, so not really sure it's worth it for me. I do plan on getting a 2nd opinion, so I'll see what happens with that

Ellyn27- Way to go on your weight loss!! I lost 50lbs before DX, only to gain 10lbs back during treatment, so I know how hard that is. Since I’ll be done tomorrow, I’m already thinking I need to reactivate my gym membership for March and join you on the road to a new healthier me.

Skookum- CONGRATS! Its nice to be done, happy for you. I too am starting Anastrozole, the generic for Arimidex. My MO has me scheduled to start on 3/1, but take it every other day for 6 weeks. Then if I tolerate it well, every day for the next 5 years. I'm not looking forward to taking anything for 5 years but I want the insurance it provides.

CONGRATS SKOOKUM!!! Now to relax and just breathe. I didn't have a bell to ring either, just a diploma and lots of hugs to go around. Then you feel like "what do I do with myself now" hahaha ... all this free time!! I wish you the best with your meds, I wish us all the best with our meds. Just prepare to dress in layers. I've been wearing short sleeve tops with a sweater most days. Have a good weekend :)

Skookum, CONGRATULATIONS!! It was such a good feeling to get back to a place where my daily routine was not determined by medical treatments - you will be amazed. And you should also be very proud of getting through all of it with such a great attitude and outlook on life.

Have a great weekend all and I have fingers crossed for Neanie chiming in real soon.

Congratulations Neanie44, that was a great time to share with your family!

I have my bottle of pills to start taking on Monday. I’m going to follow the lead of some of you and take the pill in the evening. I think I’ll also keep drinking the protein drinks. Atleast I’ll know I’m getting a good amount of protein and start on vitamin D on Monday.

I woke up in time to go to a treatment, it felt so good to realize I could pull the covers up and sleep a little longer

I live with daily pain and am easily tired from fibromyalgia. I was dx with Dcus and had  a lumpectomy on 1/30/18. I don't have all my scores  but so far I am a grade1 stage 1 and ER positive.

I am really scared as I always have these sx and I have been told I will have more pain My skin is very sensitive.

    Has anyone experienced this?

Skookum, Georgia and Cindy - Thank you so much for the support. Hard to feel it's time to celebrate when my nails have started to fall off. Ughhhhhhh!!!! Anyway, Lindar2323 - Being scared is so normal and we all have experienced it. Please know that we are all here to support you. Since your fibromyalgia makes you tired, you will need to make sure that you rest when you need to during treatment- do not push yourself. I have had sensitivity through chemo treatments and with radiation. I found that Tylenol helped with the pain and sensitivity, but make sure your MO and RO are aware so they can guide treatment. Keep us posted as to how you are doing.

    Prayers...

Congratulations to the ones who finished ! Sorry I haven’t been on for couple weeks. I am more active on FB group now, with the Chinese New Year I was eating like a pig.

I’m taking Anastrozole now, I can deal with the hot flashes and some joints pain. I didn’t expect this major constripation, I was worse then chemo time. I’m still leaning how to put this under control.

Paulette - I'm sorry you are having difficulties with the anastrozole. I've only had the hot flashes (started early January taking AI) and a mild headache now and then. Constipation ... yikes!!! Be sure to drink lots of water and exercise, that always helps. And maybe a prune or two :)

Is the FB group for a specific type of breast cancer?

Ellyn, the FB group is just women who have connected this past year on BCO. I really enjoy the closed group. If you are interested message Paulette and she can invite you to the group.

Hi fellow warriors- I took my first poison A pill tonight. Taking your advice, taking it before bed. Hope my body handles it ok.

Lindar2323- I also have fibromyalgia, didn’t seem to notice much of a difference during rads. More tired, but no more pain than I’ve had in the past. I’ve got to say, I was scared spitless regularly during rads. Felt like I just wanted to quit and let nature take its course. I’d think of my mom and how upset she’d be with me if I quit. And I’d get up the next day and go in again, until I was finally finished. I’d have to say, I’ve cried some every day since October 20 when I received my Dx. I think all of the crying means you need even more water during rads. Nothing is more lonely than having cancer, no matter how many people are around you and love you. That’s why this group is so great, others going through the same things you are can help give you the strength to go on

5 weeks post rads today and lots of pain in the treated breast. Do I chalk this up to radiation still doing it’s thing ?

Gigibee - my last dose was 12/13 and my underarm skin still itches along the line were the normal untreated skin meets the darker treated area. Occasionally I get stabbing pains in the breast too - I asked the breast surgeon about it and she indicated it's normal healing.

I finished my 33 rounds of radiation on December 20, 2017. I am now noticing some tenderness and firmness in my breast and tenderness in my armpit. I had a lumpectomy before rads and had no lymphnodes removed. Anyone else with this tenderness? I am putting vatamin E oil on my breast and armpit to help with the firmness.

gigibee- I think the fast shooting & gone pain is normal. Not sure about "a lot" of pain. My last rads was 1/18, armpit itches & hurts on and off, and sometimes feels tender. My breast & incision really don't hurt. We're all different, but it can't hurt asking. You might be able to talk on the phone with an RO nurse, he/she could let you know if you need to be seen.

Gigibee and Sib, I finished RADS December 16 and feel like the swelling/soreness just resolved last week. I do occasionally have pain when sleeping on the treated breast at night, and have some tenderness under my arm which I think is from the SNB. My MO said it's all normal and to keep up with the stretching and the moisturizing.

Hope everyone is doing well. I can't wait for spring because this fall and winter have been atrocious. I need some sun and a fresh start!

Ladies, thanks for sharing this info about continued effects of radiation. I was just thinking of asking you all WHEN was this going to get better??? I finished rads on 1/26 and I am still very red (saw some improvement the first week after but not much since then), tingling and occasional stabbing pains, and very tight skin over my expander. Sounds like it just takes a long time to heal up! Hopefully we will all be feeling better soon.

So glad to read this! I've been having some off and on pain under my arm where my nodes were removed and the skin around my expander is tight as well. Ugh

OCDAmy & PauletteK - 2nd night taking Anastrozole (every other day). Note the time. I slept maybe 4 hours, and I pretty much feel wide awake. I fall asleep like a rock. I looked back at posts, I think one of you mentioned melatonin. I'm going to have to get some. I didn't want to go into the AI group, having read it weeks ago, it has more negative side effects I don't want in my head. I'm hoping this being awake before the birds are up will pass.
