Towards and Gigi, what you have both described is me! I can hardly wait to see what Tamoxifen is going to bring, lol!!
-
Thanks God is Friday! Congrats to the ones who reached the finish line again !
Good to have couple days rest for the one who is still doing radiation. We should appreciate our hubby because it is hard for him to holding the fort when we having treatment also he wanted to help but he doesn't how.
I know what are you saying smwusaf, I feel like my body is falling apart. Yep you said it right at least you caught it early. Cancer sucks.
-
Wow, a girl goes away on a cruise and it has taken my two weeks to catch up to read everyones post!! Great trip, gained lots of weight.....always know a good vacation when you gain weight haha.
just finished 10/25 rads. skin good so far..... bought some allhydran in Aruba from the Aloe plant and told my rads techs, they told me not to use any aloe or aloe base creams because the aloe can interact with the radiation and cause sensitivities. Guess there was a large study about 4 years ago or so. So just using Glaxal base which they recommended. Will use the allhydran on my eczema i guess. Was a bit pricey, oh well.
I counted the zaps today and yes, like others there was 11! occasionally they have music playing, today nothing. There are 4 techs, all female, they are very friendly and cover me up between adjustments and only open the gown to get confirmation. Then cover me for the rads.
I have to go 70 minutes to and from my cancer centre. I can drive but didn't think i'd like to do it daily so am using Wheels of Hope from the Cancer society. Only 100 dollars and gets me as many rides as i need. That is cheaper than the parking for the 25 tx. Plus get to meet new people and chit chat. Makes the drive go faster. Also hubby get to continue to go to his curling three times a week and not worry about me.
Congrats to all of you who are finished, I'm a bit jealous but i know i have to do my time
Thanks for all your posts (so many of them phew), great information. PVM, thanks for posting that LE exercise,.I have bookmarked it and started it today. NO real LE yet but I'm afraid that the rads may make it so...
NO more holidays until first two weeks in march when we will drive out west to alberta to visit my MIL, then back to work March 19! Looking forward to that

I know. Lewhy and Gigi, I am post menopausal and will be taking Letrozole and am very concerned about the side effects ahead, so I hear you. I have been much more balanced in my moods since going through menopause almost 10 years ago. I also was better at living in the moment. Those days are GONE. LOL
At least we know that we are not alone in these emotions right?
-
Went to MO today and talked through all my questions. When I asked what my chances of survival are he said, we are going for cure, in fact you are likely cured now. I burst out crying.
I asked about drinking alcohol with all the information about how bad it is for cancer. He said red wine is good for you, and everything in moderation. He said one day when you die you don't want to look back and think that you didn't really live. So, do what makes you happy.
I registered for the PALLAS trial today. May not get in because it has to begin before one year of being diagnosed and for me that is Tuesday and they are not sure they can get my tissue sample from my surgery in time. I'll know by Monday.
I am starting back on anestrazol today. He also said I could take a baby aspirin daily, good for your heart and may help with cancer.
Onward!
-
OCD Amy, I love your physician's view on life. Mine was similar ... moderation.
I had an odd SE today (I'm #10/30)... driving in the car, sunny day. I got to my destination and my neck/chest was all red and hot, presumably from the sun (through the car window!). Makes me grateful I'm not doing this in the middle of the summer! (Chemo was bad enough, keeping from turning orange on the A/C!)
-
OCDAmy. Sounds like a good appointment. I like the cure idea a lot !!!!
I see my MO on 2/12 (they said to come 2-4 weeks after finishing rad ) so I wonder if I’ll hear about any trials. They hadcalled me about one that was looking at the brain before and after treatment but they didn’t get me in time before I was starting Rads.
-
Amy i am sooo happy to hear this. What a great way to end your weekend & well your active treatment as well. I think this is important for all of us warriors. We are not a statistic we are fighters & we kick butt & shall not let cancer rob us of enjoying our lives. Enjoy your glass of vino & toast to the amazing life ahead of you. xo
-
Had my last treatment today - whoo hoo! So glad to have this step behind me. On now to Xeloda oral chemo because my cancer is triple negative. I'm hoping it won't be too bad.
Lewhy, glad you are feeling better today. This journey is not just physical, it's definitely emotional.
Rest up everyone and enjoy the weekend!
-
Sonia Woot! Woot! Done with radiation! How long do you stay on Xeloda?
Amy love how your MO put it, I don’t think about recurrence much, I just enjoy each day.
Went to see my surgeon today, the next appointment will be six month from now unless my MO said it is okay to pull the port out. According to my Surgeon he said my skin isn’t bad at all, especially skin on my breast. I might even have brown marks on my collarbone and neck from the burn. Oh well, that’s life, however he said he will request MRI for me and that he thinks we should do that annually beside mammogram.
The red spot above my collarbone is starting to peel, skin heals fast.
Enjoy the weekend everyone........ it will be nice and sunny his weekend for me.
-
Congrats to you who finished this week! Yeah for you!! The more of you who finish remind the rest of us that the end of this part is just around the corner!
Good news came in a phone call today...my MR Bx showed benign breast tissue (so how did both sides achieve a Bi-RADS 4 category but end up being fat necrosis on one side and benign tissue on the other? I'll never know) I binge watched radiology training videos teaching residents to read breast MRI's while I was cooking dinner tonight and learned a lot, and maybe it is just my own personal miracle that both concerning areas have turned out cancer-free. I was hoping to get a call from my RO to officially give me the good news and set up my long-awaited simulation, but alas, that call did not come. So I wait... but a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you for encouraging me these last few weeks especially. A huge weight has been lifted.
smw and Towards, I have so many appts coming up too! The dentist was a breeze this week, but I have my GYN appt next week (God, I think I'll be on my period), I am overdue for a colonoscopy which I'm planning after rads, and I already have an appt for a followup MRI in 6 months (not looking forward to another one of those after this wild goose chase!). I'm wondering if I'll have a mammogram then as well. How many of you ladies are getting a 3-D mammogram vs a regular one? I need to do some reading on which is better since I can choose where to go. Hey, gals, let's commit to really taking care of ourselves from here on out and not putting it off (like colonoscopy, etc). How bad can it really be after what we have been through?
-
Leywhy and Towardsheal my emotions are all over the place too. Poor hubby and kids. I have cried over the silliest things. My daughter (the Radiation Therapist one) is moving 6.5 hours away tomorrow and I'm really sad about that. I'm also glad because I was so worried she wouldn't take the job because of my BC. And she knows too much so it's better she isn't watching Mum go through it all.
I hope everyone is having a nice treatment free weekend. Xx
-
Yah Downnotout!!! I'm so glad your MRI came back ok! You must be relieved!!!
-
OCDAmy my Rad Onc is pretty chilled too. My MO said there is only a small link between alcohol consumption and breast cancer. Hubby and I collect wine but I have cut down how much I've been drinking.
Congrats everyone who is finished!!!!!
-
Down what great news, what a relief for you and us who were holding our breath waiting with you.
-
Down, what a relief!! Now you can get at this.
-
Leywhy and Towardsheal congrats!!! take care of yourselves. I have made an extra effort since diagnosis to walk every day, osteopenia scare also motivated me, but it helps clear the mind and is good for the body and soul. I bought snow pants and a mask for the really cold days so I have no excuses.
But I understand wanting to be stoic with family and waking up at 3am scared they missed something, its real its hard.
-
Congrats Sonia!!!
-
Sonia woot woot woot you did it. You rang that bell & cried those happy tears. Congrats!!!!! Now its on to recovery & taking care of you.
Down so happy to hear that your MRI came back with good news i am sure that must have been a relief.
To the other ladies that are still in warrior mode you have the weekend to recovery & take it easy until you back next week & continue your kick butt battle. We are counting down with each & every one of you. Be good to yourselves & wishing you all minimal SE as you continue to kick butt!!!!
-
Down, praise the Lord for that good news - I know you are so relieved!
-
Downotout- yes, congratulations on your news! Soon you'll be counting down the rads days. Happy for you.
-
DownNotOut, I'm so happy that you received good test results. Now you and your doctors can move to next steps. Hip hip hooray!
-

-
Down ... woot woot! Good news!
Congrats to the people who finished radiation!
Sonia 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 Happy dance!
Rads burned skin heal pretty fast, my skin started to heal so that’s something good.
Have a great weekend ladies!
-
congrats Sonia!!!
Downnotout, that is great news , happy for you
-
Congratulations Sonia, ring the bell!
Down that is wonderful news. SO HAPPY FOR YOU and I hope you will have a date on the calendar to begin Rads very very soon. Hugs.
Yes, agreed no more putting off tests, we have been through so much and we have to plod through the testing diligently. I plan on putting myself on autopilot and getting it all done.
Thank you PVM. It was great to have a day off today and I was lazy this morning. Ditto for tomorrow. The SE seems not as bad if I keep my mind if not my body in perpetual motion. One more full week + 2 days.
We are warriors! So grateful for this forum and all of you. 🤗
-
Ah, the support and relief I am feeling today and after reading your posts is a marvel. Thank you all! Now I'm going to try to find something decent on Netflix to watch with DH since the kids are in bed (I think). I love weekends that I do not have to work
-
Hi All,
I am writing from France (I am Italian but I live in France right now), 12 years ago when my daughter was diagnosed of Down syndrome I got a great support from a community like this, so I made a research in internet and I found this amazing place.
I will start RADS tomorrow... thank you for all the message that I red here, they are really helpful!
I am going to do 25 RAD on my left breast and 8 more specific on the local area.
After that I am going to start TAMOXIFENE... but just one step a time!
Have a great Sunday!
-
I found the group at the same stage of treatment as me. Thank you.
-
Tomorrow will be 17/30 ..
