Woot woot !!! Gigibee is coming to finish line! ๐๐๐๐ Ring the Bell ๐...... and do the dance ๐๐ป
I didnโt need to turn my head, I asked RO, he said could be skin around that area is thinner. Yes rads was hitting my lymph nodes. RO said my boob should not be raw and burn and Iโm praying he is right.
Amy few days from now, we will be good.
-
GIGIBEEEEEEE... YIPPPEEEEEEE... its almost time to kick up our heels and DANCE!!!!
-
I have few questions, how many of us have raw skin after radiation? It seems to me raw, burned skin show up after radiation is over. After they show up, how long would it last?
I know the next couple weeks would be tough, Iโm just wondering how tough would it be.
-
About how long things were raw -- I had rawness for about three weeks after the last rads session. Now, 5 weeks later, I have tan spots, but everything feels so much more normal, No pain and skin is silky smooth. I am still putting cream on it. How long am I supposed to keep doing that?
As far as how far up things got red, I had lymph involvement, so they were radiating along my collarbone. I found that I got red even on my neck and across the midline a little bit on the other side of my chest near my other collarbone. My RO had no real good explanation. My skin was pretty sensitive, and I just figured it was just sympathetically red. It never got raw or anything, just a little irritated. Since your skin is an organism in its totality, it can kind of react as a unit.
-
thanks Rhyfelwr, I actually donโt have very sensitive skin, chest skin holding up its on Ly collarbone and above got pretty burned and small area is breaking up last night . This morning is getting better, felt some burning when I put cream on it and during shower. I do think it will get better in few days since treatment has stop. When I go out I put a pad on top, but I let it air when Iโm home.
Hey, weโve been through chemo, little skin breaks wonโt take us down. Here is a picture of my current burns.
-
ouch Paulette , poor thing, I hope you get some relief soon
-
Well I did it, I finished ! My techs gave me a certificate of completion . My husband surprised me by being there and my girls were with me. I did pretty well and only lost it after ringing the bell and posing for a couple pics. It will seem strange not to have to go there anymore .
-
Congrats gigibee you did it woot woot woot. You rang that bell & danced out of there with your loved ones. Absolutely love what they wrote on the bell because its perfect. You did it!!!!!!
-
gigibee... im so proud of you! congrats and blessings as you continue being a WARRIOR!
PauletteK, ooohhhh... i hope you heal soon.
Im shedding and getting back to my color...lol
In the pics the left is my non rad boob and armpit... on the right are my after zaps. My armpit is almost back to normal.. but under my boob i still have some snake shedding to do. Its not painful at all, thank you Jesus!... it just flakes away. I call them my warrior badges!
-
gigibee....May the sound heard always reflect the voice of victory! Sounds so good! ๐๐๐๐๐ You did it! So happy .... do the happy dance ๐๐ป ๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป๐๐ป
You really peeling Lifechoices, I havenโt started peeling yet, Iโm still on the burning stage.
Iโm fine with the burn, I actually put a tissue on top so it gets air and should heal in few days. Appetite has been better now so I donโt want to gain more weight.
-
PauletteK my thoughts; the cancer is gone...this is just God making me whole and restoring me back to His perfection! It doesnt hurt at all... my arm is really good. That little scar on the top right pic; towards the bottom is my nodes incision... that too is really good and has smoothed out that i barely feel it...But God!
Im just thinking that once my boob completely sheds and flakes away itll be as smooth as a babies bottom:)...lol
-
Gigibee! The bell is the sound of victory! YES, I love that. Congrats to you.
I feel less anxious now seeing that I'm not the only one with darkened skin on my neck.
Paulette, hang in there. My skin is getting better.
-
Gigibee, congratulations!! I would have cried too if I read that on my last day. Whew. You did it!
You are all amazing!
-
Paulette & lifechoices & my amazing warrior sisters I got rads on my collarbone as well as my breast & lymph nodes due to my positive nodes
but i think my boots at my incision area did me in. Looks worse than it actually is & yes it's tender but heck all worth it to kick C in the butt!!!!! Wishing us all healing & no more peeling or anything else.
-
gigibee- so happy for you, you did it! That sign at the bell is perfect.
Tomorrow I'll be a week out since last rads. I get boob pain, and the skin on upper chest that has seen lots of sun, it has a few tiny scabs on it and itches! I just keep putting on lotions about 4x a day. Underarm at the gym can feel bad, but I'll adjust an exercise so its not rubbing on itself. We will get through this warriors!
PauletteK- keep on keeping on the lotions.
Life choices- your skin looks good!
PVM - looks sore. Keep up the lotions, you're almost fully healed. Hugs!
-
PVM, yes its our War Battle Scars; and WE WON!!! I still lotion 3xs a day.. before work, wgwn i get home and before bed. Gotta take care of this temple! I know that these scars wont be forever; but my healing from cancer WILL... so im just going to let it heal as it should and as it does believe that as it heals on the outside; its also HEALING on the inside. As the saying goes, im glad that i dont look like what ive been through! So..to give you all a better look of me...lol..this is me:)
-
Lifechoices you are a beauty inside & out don't ever change. You have been a breath of fresh air to all of us on this thread with your positivity & comforting words & that goes to all ladies on this thread you are all amazing warriors & im glad we were all able to support one another through this difficult time.
Paulette thanks so much for including me in your facebook group of strong kick cancer in the butt ladies
Have a great night my fellow warrior sisters & may you all continue to heal & get better:)
-
PVM, it looks pretty bad and you finished before Amy and I. Hey Amy when you said you got red reached to half of your neck, I knew we have the same problem. Thatโs one of the reason I lost some of my appetite also. Now rads stopped my appetite is back.
I donโt think the burns will last for couple weeks, skin heal up fast the ones on my collarbone took 4-5 days then it calm down. So by the weekend this little opening will heal. Just pray to God this will be the last one,
Hey, Iโm not complaining, just want to share how bad rads can burn skins.
-
Lifechoices, I planned to lotion till things get better. I got so many tubes of lotion, better use them up. You are so young girl. Nice picture of you.
-
Thanks for sharing your pic Paulette, it is similar to what my neck and collar bone look like, just not as red.
Lifechoices, you are so pretty, inside and out
PVM, yikes, does that hurt?
-
Amy it does not hurt all the time only when my shirt or bralette brush against it. I did a saline soak the other day as my RO suggested i do that & THAT hurt so i decided to just keep on putting cream on it & letting it heal. My other areas are peeling but don't hurt, its like i have a tan & im peeling. I think & hope this is the worst it will get.
-
I just wonder anyone applies green tea on the skin? Iโm not sure should I continued now, maybe I should ask DodgersGirl.
-
gigibee...congrats on finishing!
Lifechoices, beautiful, and thanks for all of your encouragement in this group.
Ladies who are all done, hoping that skins heals ups quickly. I'll be done on Friday, whoo-hoo! Ready for that left boob to not be red and tight.
-
thank you all for your good thoughts and wishes ! We are in this together and I canโt wait to cheer you in when itโs your turn.
Lifechoices you look like youโre ready to take on the world ! Girl power
-
Sonia, woot, woot!! We will be cheering you as you ring the bell of victory! Let us know how it goes for you! Did your expanders hold up? Mine seem fine do far. Seeing my PS in 4weeks so we will see.
-
ITS THURSDAYYYYYYY...and its A GREAT DAY to cheer on my WARRIORS! Thanks ladies for the wonderful compliments; you make me feel beautiful! My skin is still in the 'restoration' process; but my mind and body are RESTORED back to good health; THANK YOU JESUS!
Sonia; its almost time for you (one more day) to hear that bell ring and we get our FRIDAY DANCE ON!
-
Hi Ladies, good to see a lot of you have finished or are close to finishing rads. You all will always be in my good thoughts.
We are in sunny Mexico and I'm 4 weeks out from finishing rads. My skin was doing very well and now it seems the rash is coming back? Any ideas about this? Also my lump where the lumpectomy was is red under the skin and a little warm to the touch. Thought I'd ask you knowledgeable gals before I call my doctor in the USA. Thanks for any insight you have.
Everything else is well; my cording issue was resolved and the seroma where the lymph node was removed is gone. My scars are very hard and bumpy so I'm massaging these. My range of motion is good and I'm starting to play a little pickleball again. It sure is nice recovery in the sun and warmth rather than the cold.
-
Redheadhereare you getting any sun on the area there? Just a thought that it would be extra sensitive ?
-
Readhead i was going to say the same thing that gigibee said. Is that area where you had rads out in the sun & are you putting sunblock on it. It could be a mixture of the heat as well as that its sensitive. Hope it gets better - sending positive vibes your way.
-
Protecting it from sun ALWAYS, not just sunscreen but clothing. Would sweating and wearing a sports bra (since I normally go bra-less) cause this you think?
Thank you for your insight.
