What after Xeloda and Ibrance ? Please respond
Hi all,
I have written couple of times but didn’t get a response, hope this time will work.
My mother has MBC bone mets the last 4 years. She was on xeloda the first 3 and since June on ibrance. TM went down from 900 to 500, but she gets blood smear. She has had 2 infusions already in 9 months.
The onc changed the dose from 125 to 100 and then to 75 but still getting low RBC and the TM is stable but not going down.
The question is what else after ibrance in order to handle Low RBC?
I heard that verzenio could be helpful with RBC but still not approved in Europe.
Any ideas very much appreciated
Thanks

a different hormone suppression strategy like faslodex or exemestane alone is an option.
low RBC is not typically an ibrance side effect. it's more low WBC and neutrophils in particular. do her RBC's rebound when she goes of ibrance? if not, then you have a different problem.

Actually, this is exactly the problem I had on Ibrance. While my neutrophils were fine, my RBCs went on a steady decline and with it my hemoglobin. I had to stop Ibrance because of the severe anemia. I’ve just started Faslodex alone so, as Z said, another hormone therapy might be next.

thanks for your reply both.
Yes every time that she takes rhe break from ibrance the RBC goes up. So we are very sure it’s ibrmsce.
She takes falsodex as well ibrance. But if she stops ibrance and takes only falsodex I am worried that the TM will rise again. While the TM was going down when she is on 100mg when she moved to 75 the TM was stable. So I am worried if she stops Ibrance the TM will rise.
Do you have any suggestions to replace Ibrance

Some onc are doing 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off to help with blood count issues. Not sure what schedule your Mom is on but maybe that's an option

thanks lynnwood
She was on 125 3week 1 off decreased then 2 and 2
Then went to 100 3 and 1 then 3 and 1 on 75 but still gets low RBC.
Actually this is suggested from the company that makes ibrance on the instructi

She can take Faslodex on it's own. Or with letrozole. Ibrance is really a booster. It doesn't usually operate independently.
The next treatment would be either one of the hormonals (Afintor/Aromasin comes to mind), or a chemotherapy. Or since it's been more than a year you might be able to go back to Xeloda. Docs don't like to try that very often but you could have a trial of it.

Hi all, after moving back to 100mg of Ibrance and Faslodex the CA15.3 is keep rising by 30points the first month and 60 the second month.
Not many options left. Prob going back to 125mg of Ibrance or changing Faslodex as well to something else?
What do you think??
