The new research on Antabuse and how it kills cancer cells

There is a new article out discussing how they've uncovered how Antabuse is able to kill cancer cells (across multiple types of cancers). They're going to be doing more trials. It seems there is a particular 'something' in the cancer cell that the antabuse attacks. What I can't tell from the article is if only some cancers have this 'something' - say, based on genetics or what. Does anyone else have any insight into this latest news?

Reading the article made me want to drop everything and go ask for a prescription for Antabuse! But the drug CANNOT be mixed with alcohol of any type - EVEN topically, say in a lotion or whatever. Of course, that means you could never have a beer or a glass of wine, EVER EVER EVER (or risk a near fatal or fatal reaction). So, okay, fine - but what if it only works on a small percentage of people?

I don't know - rambling now - but so very interested in your thoughts on this.

Thanks!

LL

LizLemon, this looks promising. I googled it after reading your post. There is at least one clinical trial going on with this med. Sad that since it is generic, there isn't as much interest in it (not as much potential to make $) than there might be in a new drug. Antabuse is supposed to work best with copper. Thanks for posting!
