    SweetP, woohoo, that is wonderful news!!!! You've been through so much during treatment - it's nice to finally see the end in sight and know that it is all paying off!

    Sweetp, congratulations! I’m 5 weeks PFC and my fingers and feet are getting better each day, so that’s light at the end of the tunnel.

    I’m doing radiation now and I have swelling on my breast and undr my armpit, techs and doc both said is normal, but I worry how much swelling is going to be, im only on my 5/30,will get my #6 today.

    Mucki, this thread has been inactive for so long, glad someone is coming back.

    Mucki, glad you are done with your chemo! Yay! I’m doing radiation now, I have 5 more to go. How are you feeling? Take it easy, the last chemo hit hard.

    Happy New Year All!

    I finished the major chemo back on 11/16/17, had my lumpectomy, etc. 1/4/18 (2 sentinel nodes removed also); results: Negative

    Yesterday, I had a post-op appt. with the surgeon who wants me to see her again next week (right after my Rad Doctor consult). She noticed a little swelling and if it gets "worse", she'll get out a needle with syringe to draw out some goop that can be one of the things that makes it swell up. She also added that it would be best to draw it out (if there) since radiation does it no good once started. Either way, I think that I'll have her try to draw it out and I'll let you know how that goes. 6 days from now. The swelling is more noticeable near the lymph nodes (underarm).

    P.S. I'm getting a new recliner today since I broke the old one years ago recovering from gallbladder surgery. The chaise lounge end of my sofa isn't doing it for me any more.

    Hi Sweet, yes radiation will add fluid to your armpit and breast also. My breast and armpit are retaining water now and it is normal according to my RO, I’m hoping it will drain after the radiation. If not, I have to go back to my PT again.

    Paulette yeah taxol has really done a number on my nervous system with rampant nerve pain.I'm starting to loose toenails now one with infection 8-( fatigue has been rough the last few weeks just so glad it's almost over one more week of scrappy symptoms

    Mucki, the neuropathy got me so bad I have to stop at #9 Taxol. 2/3 of my feet were numb now I’m 9 weeks PFC all my toes are still numb, fingers are better. Fatigue was bad, I have to nap every afternoon. I’m on my last two weeks of radiation fatigue hits me also, I need my nap also. Do you need radiation?

    Mucki- CONGRATULATIONS!! One stage of this journey behind you. I finished chemo on 11/24 and despite having been anemic during the last 2 treatments, have regained a good bit of my energy back. The neuropathy will get better, just hang in there. I had neuropathy prior to DX , but of course the infusions made it worse and I was miserable towards the end. It was especially worse during the night when I had to get out of bed. I found that gatorade helped with the fatigue; peanut butter crackers and claritin helped with the bone aches, but do rest when you need to.

    Sweetp - I am also taking radiation and have some swelling in breast and armpit as well - actually had some in the breast before it started. So sorry that you are having a hard time with the swelling. MO states "it is normal", but RO seems to be concerned, so she has sent him a message to re-evaluate when I see him tomorrow. Hope you are enjoying that new recliner. :-)

    Mucki, I finished major chemo on 11/16 and it took several weeks for the numbness to improve. Today, the numbness in my toes is at a minimum and luckily, my toenails that are still hanging on are not causing pain, usually. Only when I wear shoes with less toe room. I just went to a podiatrist who complimented me on my great job trimming the edges on my big toes' toenails (ingrown but now loose enough to work with), I know I should not do my own toenail trimming to that extent, but I was lucky not to cause an infection. He went on to say that there was nothing he could really do for me since there was no bleeding under the nail (in which case he would have removed the nails). In my case, he wants me to swap out existing insoles with foam or gel (soft) inserts. He also admitted, like many doctors do, that he had little to no experience with cancer patients.

    Maybe I'm going to the wrong doctors, but to be fair, my oncology nurses don't know of other doctors that also help cancer patients, with one exception. A cardiologist who had BC, who I've seen because of the Herceptin that I get every 3 weeks.

    Tomorrow morning I will consult with the Radiation MD and nurse. Afterwards, I'll walk over to my surgeon's office to see if she can draw out some fluid from the swollen areas.

    Update: The Rad MD basically told me that I'll be getting rads aimed at my left breast and underarm/lymph area, 5 times a week for 6 weeks. I should be able to go in, then go to work. I have a hematoma that will be dealt with next Tuesday, two days before my CT scan/tattoo/practice session. Two CT type procedures two days apart; whoopee.

    Ladies, finished my radiation today, I cried on the radiation table this time. Just can't believe this journey is finally over. As I told the techs, I love you girls but I don't want to come back to this room.

    All my pink sisters I just want to thanks everyone of you for all the supports. I remember all of you and those dark days we had.

    I'm crying for joy and fears also.

    Blair, do what is good for you, I always think about quality of life when I did chemo. Could be I’m a little older. I didn’t want permanent damage to my health.

    Walking, pray that you have minimal SE on Xeloda. How long are you going to be on?

    Wonderful news PauletteK (finishing radiation). I hope that your skin burns will heal quickly.

    Tomorrow, I get my tiny tattoos, measurements, etc. 6 weeks of rads to look forward to. My thoughtful surgeon saw that I had some swelling near my lymph nodes and she got out a syringe and drew some ? out so that it wouldn't be a permanent resident.

    Hope everyone is processing well and feeling well.
