my doctor just called me and I’m kind of unsure what she said. My mind was not concentrating I quess. She wants to put me on some pill that you take for 21 days then off for a week. And also some kind of shot that you get once a month in the butt. Any one hear of this or have to do this. Totally confused. I’m seeing her on Wednesday. Thanks agai

Hi, Tychad. It sounds like your oncologist is recommending Faslodex (the shots -- one on each side) plus Ibrance, a pill that's taken for 21 days, then off 7 days. It's a very common treatment recommendation. I was on it for about 18 months with great results.

This Ibrance discussion thread should be helpful to you for learning more: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/8/topics/...

There's also a Facebook group for Ibrance and other CDK4/6 inhibitor (the class of drugs) users. If you're on FB, let me know if you'd like I link to that page and I'll message it to you.

Good luck with this new treatment! Deanna

What Deanna said. I've been on that treatment. Was on Faslodex for three years and Ibrance+Faslodex for one year. Go to the Faslodex thread where they have all sorts of tips on how to take that medication without pain.

The Faslodex is a SERD (Selective-estrogen-receptor disruptor) and the Ibrance (or Kisgali, same ish thing) is a CDK4/6 inhibitor. It seems to boost the estrogen disruptors and makes them work better.

You were asking about the PET on another thread. If you were taking letrozole it seems your cancer has progressed somewhat. That's why the new treatment. I'm sorry for the progression but hope you can take these next meds for a long long time.
