Dear All,

I am posting this text on behalf of my mother,

who is 62 yrs old and has been unedr treatment since last 2 years for Stage IV BC.

Currently, she is going through treatment of 3 cycles of Navelbine 50 mg + Carbopltine 450 mg Chemo therapy.

Today's she is undergoing, the 3rd cycle of it. During the previous cycles of navelbine, her blood reports were not quite good.

And HGB count were dropped till 7.1. Due to this, she has undergone blood transfusion 2 times.

I am worried about this low HGB, not sure if this is measurely due to Navelbine side effect. We have schedule oncologist consultancy after 21 days.

I would apprecaite if you guys can share some words regarding it.

Love and blessing for all.

Regards,

Lalit. (from India)

    Hi Sharmal,

We're so sorry to hear your mom is going through this. We hope others will be by shortly to weigh in with their thoughts. But in the meantime, you may be interested in checking out the main Breastcancer.org site's page on Anemia and also Anemia and Recurrent or Metastatic Breast Cancer for some tips to help get blood counts back up.

    We hope this helps!

I sometimes have low HGB. We monitor the levels and sometimes I have to take Procrit to help bring up the numbers. Last month I had to get a blood transfusion because the numbers kept going down. Maybe that is something your mom can ask her doctor about. Good luck!
