Was anyone else told their lump was "just a cyst"?

    absolutely happened to me. Two different doctors!

    I had a blob that didn't show up on mammo or ultrasound. "Just a cyst." Three months later I had a pleural effusion. The liter or so of fluid removed from around my lung (twice) showed no signs of cancer, or anything else for that matter. Five months later my nipple inverted and I finally got a biopsy. Yes it was cancer, a mucinous variety that doesn't show up well on tests, and yes, a lung biopsy showed metastasis.

    I was almost certainly stage 4 when the blob was first noticeable, but who would say, "Let's just wait ten months before we treat it."
