My 18 year old cat, Henry, is no more. Here is the 'obituary' I posted on Facebook in his honor:
We are so sad to say goodbye to Henry the Crabby Cat. Born in 1999, he lived a long, interesting cat life (i.e. eating, napping, prowling about). Summer was his favorite season and we are glad he got this last one to sleep in the sun, roll in the grass, annoy squirrels and birds, drink from the watering can, and supervise the world from the front porch. He will be missed!
-
Condolences. It's hard to loose a family member even when they're old and it's not unexpected. I'm happy he had one last summer. Hugs.
-
RIP Henry. Sincere condolences Ruth.
May Henry and Oreo be reunited.

I'm sorry about Henry. It sounds like he had a great life!
-
So sorry, Ruth. Losing our fur babies leaves a huge hole in our hearts. He was a handsome boy - I can just picture him doing all those fun cat things!

Ruth, so sorry to hear of Henry's passing. It is difficult to lose our furry children.
-
Thanks, ladies. They sure do wrap themselves around our hearts....

Ruth ~ So, so sorry your Henry has passed. You shared so many wonderful photos and stories of Henry and Oreo here - a loving legacy to both that will live on in these pages. May they both rest in peace in the warmth of the same Heavenly sunbeam.

What a lovely poem, shepkitty. Thanks!

WoW, I just found this thread. I have 10 cats, actually, 2 adult cats, a mother and son, who came to our backyard and my daughter fed them. This started around December 2016, and I finished my rads treatment 01/31/17; so in February, momma cat got pregnant and gave birth to 3 kittens, who are now 6 months, then she got pregnant again, gave birth 05/29/17. It gets overwhelming sometimes. My parents and others advised me to give some away, but I think it's a joy to keep them. I'm also picky of the person I give them to. Does all you ladies still work, how do you manage day to day things.
CaMommy, Reading your profile I'm amazed. Your mom is still going strong after 40 years. Do you mind if I ask about her treatment methods. Does she do anything differently to stay off recurrence. Sorry for going off cats topics.
-
get the girls spayed, please?
-
I know, I haven't had chance to have Momma cat spayed because the had the kittens back to back. She has an apt and one for the male kitten. All the cats have been living indoors since May so I don't anticipate another birth.

Houston, It's a joy to have them as well as a lot of work. Think how thrilled a little girl would be to have a kitten. 6-7 is an ideal age for a girly girl. I think it might depend on the kid if she's a tomboy. I volunteer for an animal shelter and it's so fun to see the kids get their first kitten. I didn't get one until I was grown and married. I've had one ever since.
-
Yes, I love cats since I was younger, we have family cat but not my own. Actually I didn't let my kids have pets when they were younger. So now my older daughter, she's 21 decided to feed the neighborhood stray cats one day. They kept coming back and that's how the cat story begins.
-
Welcome Houston
That reminds me of this illustration which I love...
-
This is my other favourite cartoon on the topic!
-
Look what DH brought me back from recent trip to Seattle!
We actually only have one cat these days, DS is allergic but can manage to get along with 1 as long as he doesn't stick his face in Arthur's fur or rub his eyes after petting him, in which case it is straight for the Clarityn. However I have had a multicat household a lot of my life, and the reputation sticks!
-
Feline, great cups! One of the shelter volunteers added crazy cat lady to her volunteer shirt.
-
I follow this thread and wanted to post a couple of pics of the kitties that I am petsitting. Puss is all black and the tuxedo is Boots. They were adopted and they found a wonderful home. They are about a year old and they make me smile, smile, smile.

They are great. I love black cats. And boots really has boots.
-
AND
THEY EVEN SIT STILL FOR PHOTOS !!!!!!!!
-
They sat still because I was slowly waiving a large branch. I love black cats too...just adore them.
-
Saw this on Facebook, and had to share with my fellow cat ladies.
Apologies for the foul language in the meme - I didn't make it. The comments on the post are great for a laugh if you have some time to read.
BTW, I sincerely hope the kitty was able to swim to safety. Thinking about all of the animals in the storm breaks my heart.
