Recurrence, local recurrence?

Hello all.

It's been a long while since I've posted.

I've got some questions about recurrence. I am BRCA positive, strong family history of pancreatic and breast cancer. I was diagnosed stage IV de novo with mets to bones when I was 32 years old. I have been lucky as I am looking at my 39th birthday coming up in less than a month!

But, I was not given a mastectomy option at my original diagnosis because the priority was getting bone mets under control as quickly as possible. My original breast tumor was on the right side. I did well following chemo, lumpectomy, ooph, radiation, regular Zometa, etc....I stayed on the AI for four years and had a recurrence in my left breast (Original was in my right breast). The recurrence was in the left breast lymph nodes, there was no left breast lump. I did more heavy chemo and then had the lymph nodes on the left removed and was then radiated. It's been almost two years since then. I am not sure if it is timing or if I have a reason but I feel very nervous waiting until the end of October for my mammogram. I am feeling a painful lump on the left side near arm pit. I showed my onc when I went in for my monthly treatment and he didn't seem concerned. Also - after about a year of no hot flashes I am profusely sweating constantly! It is like I felt in the very beginning almost seven years ago! I am also really, really tired. Anyone have any advice to offer??? Should I push for a mammo sooner?? Any advice to allow me to talk myself OFF this ledge would be great!

    When was your last CT or PET scan?  If more than 6 months ago, I'd ask for one as well as doing the mammogram at the same time.  Just sayin...

    @cive - thanks for responding!

    My last petscan was 5/3/17 - so really not that long ago. I guess what worries me is I have a new oncologist (last one retired). And the last time the radiologist who read my stuff didn't find the lymph nodes on the scan. I told my onc I had felt something on vacation, we couldn't even find it in the office. But, it prompted my onc to pull up imaging and really dissect it - he found the cancerous lymph nodes at that point. Radiologist who read scan had missed it. Of course we then biopsied the nodes to make sure and tested to see if any receptors had changed.

    Could you have them do an ultrasound of the arm pit node? I had a node biopsied some time after my mastectomy based on an ultrasound result and it was benign. I usually do ultrasounds in between mammos.
