I have had BC since 2008, bone mets Dx since 2013. I was told last Wed my Dr was no longer going to see patients as of Sept, she had dropped all but stage 4's a year ago. 2 days later I had MRI of head for skull pain & left eye swelling. I was getting my Zometta when my dr office called & said I needed to go to other hospital for admission. They had consulted a Neuro oncologist for what looked like a tumor behind my eye & possibly LM. Thankfully LM was ruled out, but now I will start radiation for this eye tumor, that isn't exactly in my brain. My RO In 30 years has never seen this. I am so sad & frustrated. Another RO consulted acted as if treatment is only palliative. After much research today , I think I may need ophthalmology consult. Any else ever hear of this? Su

Hi, Sue. I do not know anything about this kind of met, but here is a link to a thread called "Mets in eyes". The first reply is from Bestbird, who has made a masterpiece of a guide to mbc treatment, outlining treatments for eye mets. I found it by searching key words "eye mets" and limiting it to the last 2 years, and clicking on "sort by relevancy" at the bottom. There are other threads to check, too.

If I were in your situation I would get myself to an NCCN cancer center or at least a university-based cancer center if not at one already. I would search for an oncology ophthamologist, and a radiologist who has seen this before. Use the internet and any doctors you have to find the right people. At least have your current docs consult them.

Wishing you good luck and a successful treatment plan.

thank u for your response. My internet search has made it clear I need an eye specialist. While not common, it does happen. Just my luck, I continue to do everything the hard way. And having to pick a new MO at this time really sucks. Sometimes I wonder if it time to call it quits. Oh to have a crystal ball...
