I had to put down my girl, Bandita, yesterday. I'm just feeling so hollow.
We had an unexpected issue with her brother in January and had to put him down. I'm not even over that yet and then this. Fluid in the membrane holding the lungs....SO full and doc said 90% chance a tumor/cancer. STUPID, freakin' cancer. She is my avatar here.
(Edited: I typed heart but meant lungs. Brain fog, big time at the moment!)

wallycat, I'm so sorry for your loss. She was beautiful.
-
Wallycat, I'm so sorry. Losing one is bad, but both is a tragedy. I lost one that way and it's horrible. Hugs.
-
Wallycat RIP Bandita. Sincere condolences.

-
Wallycat..I am so sorry for your loss. We had to put our little girl Levy down a few weeks ago too. No way to describe the sadness it brings. Hugs to you.
-
Wallycat it's so heart-breaking to lose our furrbabies. i'm sorry for your loss.
-
Thank you, ladies.
I am just a zombie at the moment. Simple tasks that remind me of her, and I am wailing and sobbing. I appreciate the kind words and sympathies. Only "pet people" understand the deep pain.
-
So sorry Wally....totally get it. And now you've lost two. The last time I lost a cat was at age 21. It was different then. Didn't have cats again until 2007. Lost one of those at age 7. It was difficult.....heartbreaking. It does get easier over time, as you may know. It does.... It very much helped me to get a two new kittens for my remaining girl. I still remember my girl, but the good memories, mostly.
-
Wallycat, cry all you need. And come on here when you need.
-
So sorry, Wally. I know you gave her a wonderful life and that she KNEW she was much loved.
-
Venus and Diana. Venus ( the one in the back) crossed the bridge unexpectedly just before Thanksgiving 2016. Wallycat, She had fluid around her lungs, too, and some sort of mass on her lung. I still miss her every day. She was a sweetheart
-
RIP Venus.
I can see why you named them both after Goddesses
-
FeelingFeline, nobody ever gets that, so thank you for saying it! Venus was a little love bug, and Diana was very playful and always stalking toys. It seemed appropriate.
-
Hugs to all. My 18 year Henry is still hanging in there. After years of eating a healthy Science Diet life; he is now enjoying the cheap, gravy/sauce laden meals of Little Friskys. It's more fun for me to shop for cat food too with all the exotic choices.

my 9 month old ginger tom cat was run over outside my house on Sunday, brought him to the vet he said was nothing he could do as apart from broken pelvis tail he had internal injuries which they couldn't fix we had to get him put to sleep on Monday I'm devastated I waited for years to get a cat because our dog hated cats he died in January so we got 2 hand reared kittens from my mother all was going great neutered them and kept them in at night I am devastated his sister is going round bawling looking for him I'm so sad.

I'm going away for a week in two weeks I really don't know what I'm gonna do with the cat my grown up son is house sitting and minding the new pup she's only here 3 weeks garden is totally fenced in so Dog is safe but I dunno what I'll do with my cat , leave her in totally or send to a chattery I'm not comfortable leaving her to come and go through the window like I had been doing before last sunday
-
Lorri, I'm so sorry about your cat. It is always so hard to lose them, but I think when it is unexpected like that, it feels even worse.
I have left my cats at home alone for a week, but usually have someone come by to check on them mid-week. I set up extra litter boxes (2-3 extras) and put extra food & water bowls all around the house. They've always been fine, but I worry about them when I'm gone.
-
Lorri, Leaving her inside would be the safest. We have a friend who drops in to feed them when we're gone. I'm sorry for your loss. I know having the other cat looking and crying makes it much worse. Cats that age adjust well to a new friend, so consider getting another cat when you're ready.
-
Lorri sincere condolences. Hope your girl cat becomes happier XX
-
Lorri,
so heartbreaking. I am sorry for your loss. I'm grateful you were around and could help your cat end the pain he must have been in from the accident.
-
;o))

Still true!

Lorri -sorry for your loss. Heartbreaking! When a child I had a cat hit by a car 3 times, though she managed to live a ling life. Sadly, this is the risk we take by letting our sweeties outside. Only in last 10 years have I had cats and was determined to keep them indoors as MY heart could not take the risk of what would happen to them roaming free. I invested in a Purrfect Cat Fence, and if not in Europe, they have even better designs over there for letting cats out, but not OUT. Recently I got 2 younge Devon Rexes. They are serious climbers and knew the tall trees in my yard would be very tempting (and no way to secure them, and overtime, even the fence gets chewed on by animals in spring creatng holes I might not see to fix right away), so i got them a catio. No, it is not the same as they don't get to chase butterfies, etc.., but they love the smells and to watch the birds.
As far as going away, someone to visit the home once or twice a day and otherwise they should stay indoors. Your heart will be happier and your cat safer.
Catio:
They have a cat door from the house to the catio
