Anyone on Abemaciclib?
I need to start a new drug regime because my liver enzymes went dangerously high on Ibrance. I know the two "ciclib" drugs are very similar and before I go to my onc on Wednesday I would like to know of others experience on this new drug.
Thanks much.

I'm going to start a study taking this drug in the next week. I have brain mets and it crosses the BBB. I'll be taking in hopes of keeping SRS in our back pocket for a later time. I'll be interested to hear other people's experiences..

My wife has been on Abemaciclib along with an anti-estrogen drug (Letrozole I think). After being on both for a month a full body PET scan showed her breast tumor shrunk 80% and no cancer anywhere else. I don't know if these results are typical but I suspect that they are better than usual.
I hope you have similar or better results.
She did suffer from pretty regular diarrhea and got pretty dehydrated at one point and had to cut back on the original dosage but she feels the results are more than worth it.

Bad_At_Usernames - Please keep us updated on your experience on this drug and what you find out from the study. Is the study you are in for Abemaciclib as a single agent or in combination with another drug?
My understanding is that you can take Abemaciclib continuously without the week (or more) break like Palbo and Ribo as it does not cause neutropenia. However there is higher incidence of diarrhea but that can be controlled with anti-diarrhea medications.
Wishing you great success on this new drug and thank you for participating in the study.

I'm taking Abemaciclib, too. Also, Faslodex and a Pik3 inhibitor (no name yet, but it's by Eli Lilly). This is for a clinical trial at Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego. I've been on this combo since the beginning of February and so far, so good. Diarrhea is the only significant side effect, and some tiredness every now and then. Unlike Ibrance, there's no off week.
Moderators: can you add Abemaciclib to the list of targeted therapies
-
mazie, we'll pass it along to the Editorial Team. Thank you!

Mazie, in talking with the editorial team, since this drug has not yet been FHA approved, we'll have to hold off on adding it as a targeted therapy option. It does sound promising though that this drug will be approved soon, and when it is, we'll be sure to add it!
In the meantime, feel free to add it to your signature line to let others know you're on this trial, and hopefully you can connect with others!
