In 2011 I was first diagnosed with cancer. I had a BMX and have taken Tamoxifen since then. Now there is a recurrence in the breast, lymph node, and bone. The doctors are working out the sequencing of surgery, chemo, radiation, and hormonal therapy. Although I didn't post often the first time, I used the boards for information. I'm sure I'll need more help this time. Just stopping by to say hello and thank you all for sharing

Hi Hope, Welcome to "the club" although I wish you didn't have a reason to join. There are many people here who can help you through things. The first few weeks and months are the most difficult as you deal with the shock of the diagnosis and try to figure out how to move forward. Once you have a plan in place, you will probably begin to adjust. We have all discovered that the statistics you find online are outdated and too general. Many people on these boards have been stage IV for many years and are doing well.

    Hugs from, Lynne

Sure wish you didn't have to join us. But you will find out that this is a great group of ladies. Sometimes I am overwhelmed at how much everyone truly cares about each other. Not only are they a weath of information, they will also become your friends. I hope you get your treatment plan figured out soon, you will feel so much better once things are in place. I wish you the best of luck, remember to enjoy the moment

Hi Hope - the Bone Mets Thread is a good place to hang out.

If they are going to do surgery, it sounds like they believe you are oligometastatic. based on your brief summary of your diagnosis, i would agree. this is a good thing. you might want to compare notes with other people in this happy situation. Your prognosis is much better than your average MBC patient and some believe that you are cureable. This is the Oligometastatic Prognosis thread where people discuss this diagnosis.

Removing the primary tumor is actually controversal in MBC, but considered when the prognosis is generally good. Here is a thread on that topic.

I am sorry you are here, but you likely in a good position to be here for a long long time.
