    Laughter is the Best Medicine!

A woman brought a very limp parrot into a veterinary hospital. As she lay her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the Vet shook his head sadly and said, "I'm so sorry, Polly has passed away."

The distressed owner wailed, "Are you sure? I mean, you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."

The vet rolled his eyes, shrugged, turned and left the room returning a few moments later with beautiful black Labrador. As the bird's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the dead parrot from top to bottom. He then looked at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head.

The vet turned to the owner and again said, "Your parrot is dead."

"No, I still want another opinion!", the owner shouted.

The vet, looking a bit pissed, went out the room again but returned a few moments later with a cat. The cat jumped up and also sniffed delicately at the ex-bird. The cat sat back, shook its head, meowed and ran out of the room. The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry; but like I said, your parrot is most definitely, 100% certifiably ...dead."

He then turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill which he handed to the woman. The parrot's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$400!" she cried. "$400 just to tell me my bird is dead?!"

The vet shrugged. "If you'd taken my word for it, the bill would only have been $50, but the additional Lab Report costs $150 and the Cat Scan is $200". 😁

Going in tomorrow to have surgery to close this wound up that I have had open since February. The infection is gone and hoping it won't return. Who wants to jump in my pocket?

Meadow I'm in your pocket too always! I'm so happy to hear the infection is gone. Praying for a speedy recovery for you. Your in my prayers.

I would love to mention all of you but the list is soooo long. Thank you all for the support and prayers. I got home from the hospital yesterday. Having a hard time with heart rate jumping up. Cardiac doctor at hospital thinks the jump in heart rate is pain related. My pain meds wear off before next dose is due so I in pain for 1/2-1 hr before next dose and thats when heart rate goes up to 140+. Going to call my Orthopedic surgeon today and let him know that even at rest heart rate is 110-120. Yesterday (1st day home) was a rough day for pain. I couldn't find any way to be comfortable. Finally put a bunch of pillows in corner of twin bed and slept sitting up. The Phantom pain is it feels like my arm is still there. Sometimes it feels like I have a cut on my finger, pain in elbow joint from arthritis, sometimes feels like it fell asleep and I can always tell where the arm is like resting on my belly. It's weird but I'll take that over pain some amputees have.

You are all in my prayers and thoughts. Love you all and keep fighting. Hugs Diane

    Diane,

So glad you're home and doing well. I've been worried about you. Strange to be so connected to people we've never met, and who we might not even recognize if we met them on the street, but we are.

Be kind to yourself as you learn to adapt to your new body. I wish you all the best for a speedy, complete recovery.
