I found an interesting article about the strong relationship between standardized uptake value (SUV) of the primary tumor and progression-free survival (PFS).

Prognostic Value of Primary Tumor Uptake on F-18 FDG PET/CT in Patients with Invasive Ductal Breast Cancer

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC40430...

I know most of the BC patients don't get PET/CT at diagnosis. Somehow I did and the SUV of my 2.7cm primary tumor was 5.4. This article indicates that a pSUVmax of 6.6 to be the optimal cutoff for predicting PFS. The patients with a high pSUVmax (more than 6.6) had significantly shorter PFS compared to patients with a low pSUVmax.

What do you think?

It's interesting research. Probably not easy to track in a general population of newly diagnosed patients, because, as you said, not many receive PET/CT after diagnosis and before treatment. I got one after my initial lumpectomy, which we thought would be like popping out a little tic-tac, revealed multiple positive nodes. Thankfully, this is not a common occurrence.
