I was diagnosed having breast cancer metastasized to bone only in Dec 2014. Now 2 yeras passed and i am 31y.o. I finished chemotherapy, radiotherapy an now on tamoxifen.

After 2 uears, only now i am experiencing terrible pain. Hardly to get out of my bed, walk amd bend down picking stuff on the floor. Painkiller sometimes doesnt work for me.

May i know, any one experience the pain after many years of cancer tx. How long it last?

Thanks

    Hi Eliyana-

We're sorry to hear you're experiencing so much pain! Have you been to see your doctor since the pain started? When was your most recent bone scan? If you haven't spoken to your doctor about this yet, we urge you to make an appointment, to find out what might be going on.

    Dear Eliyana,

I get what you go through. It was so crappy at times, that I felt death could be more fun! Then, I saw the pain management sign at the hospital.. the handsome doc not only emphasized, but also convinced me without proper pain management, the treatment is no success.

Of course the MOs/ROs prescribe stuff if yo do ask for it, but a pain doc is to be visited asap. They have great stuff. I have been pain free the last 3 years, tegretting not having acted earlier to get hold of the stuff I have now.

It is not only the pain of the tumors, but the meds acting that cause the pain. In fact a SE of the MBC and drugs to be taken care of.

Secondly, mood & anxiety meds do help the pain meds act well. My oncology psychiatrist has planned my mood & anxiety meds such that I am not numb and can sleep well and feel good. This is crucial, do visit one. Not a psycholog. The need is chemical.

Trust me sis, with my extensive bone & marrow mets I am smiling. After 5 years, still doing stuff myself. Not sern as a patient. The codein& morphine? Oh well, becoming a junkie is the least of my problems now! ;)

    Hugs & lots of love

    Ebru

Go to your oncologist, not sure if your pain is from cancer or the meds. Pain management is the key and there are different avenues.

I have found if we don't ask we wont get the meds.

I'm chiming in with the others. Tell your doctor ASAP.

For us, pain is a symptom that they need to know about. We have no need to "gut it up" or to "play hurt".

I have found that if a certain pain lasts for more than two weeks, it is more likely to be indicative of something going on. It hasn't always been cancer pain (thank you Mr. Gallbladder), so don't let it freak you out, but do let your medical team know that you are having sincere pain. They want to know.

Hope you find relief soon, and that you have support.

Thabks everyone, i've met pain management team. But not most of the time the meds work. Usually whn the morphine n others doesnt work..i just bear it. Today i can get up from bed again eventhough had taken the meds last night before sleep. I just hope that this situation doesnt last forever.

    Thanks everyone

Eliyana, I forgot to underline the fact my pain doc mentioned.. that you have to act ahead. Take the meds not after they become unbearable, as most have long-acting process.. not becoming effective right away.

    Hope you feel relief soon.

3 years ago I was told I had bone mets. I am allergic to Morphine. My lower back was in chronic pain. Lucky for me my RO is pain management certified. I look back now & recall how nothing was offered for my pain until I complained that I hurt & needed something. He prescribed fentanyl patches. It changed my life. I was functional. Still on my patches with oxycodone for breakthrough. I have done palliative radiation ' an IV radioactive drug called quadromet x2 a year & a half apart atmy request . Mets is still only in my bones. Good luck w/pain control. Sue
