Hi Ladies,

So I have just been diagnosed with mets in my liver and glands in my chest... I am just wondering if anyone has had reconstruction or gone ahead with reconstruction even though they are stage IV?

Many thanks.

xx

I am curious of this too! About a month ago I asked all my doctors about it MO, plastic surgeon, primary care doc etc...and they said absolutely ppl get reconstructed when they are stage IV. they just want you to be stable first. But it would be great to hear from some ladies that actually did it.

    hi Nina,

I had reconstruction after my mastectomy and stage 4 diagnosis. When I had my mastectomy the dr's thought I was stage 1 or 2 it wasn't until a week or two after my mastectomy that my bone mets were discovered but my plastic surgeon and onc were on board with me completing my reconstruction and I'm glad I did it. Good luck!

I was due to have my second tidy up op following my Diep surgery, I was holding off to see if I could loose weight (haha I wish) then I was DX with mets in November. I had at first thought this would preclude me fromfurther surgery. I asked my MO if she would be against me having surgery, and she said it would not be a problem in her opinion. We did agree that I would wait until I had found out how I react to IBrance (in case my blood counts went down) which I started this week. My last blood tests showed my liver markers were getting to near normal (which was a relief as I had had some discomfort come back in my side) I've yet to check with my PS. I know this isa lesser op than MX or full reconstruction, but you still get put out.

Best wishes to alll contemplating surgery.

    Sarah
