Does anyone know why the MATCH trial was suspended a few days ago?

We have not read of the suspension. They appear to have updated their page yesterday NCI-MATCH, January 18th, but no mention of suspension, though perhaps it is due to the changeover of the president and cabinet?

if you look at NCT02465060 on the clinicaltrials.gov website, and open the "Study Locations" link, it shows the status of almost all of the 1000+ locations as "Suspended" or "Withdrawn." I suspect that the few that say "Recruiting" haven't updated their status yet.

I don't know the answer but there are some possibilities:

    (1) political. For some reason NCI decided to no longer fund the study. This is unlikely.

    (2) A year ago they suspended enrollment while they paused for an interim analysis. This could be the second interim analysis. https://www.cancer.gov/news-events/cancer-currents-blog/2016/nci-match-update I'd rate this as the most likely reason. I'd need to hunt down the protocol to be sure.

    (3) the DSMB stopped the study. [data safety monitoring board] There could be any number of reasons for that. Too much harm, or too good a result.

    (3) someone at the NCI messed up when they changed the status on clinicaltrials.gov.

Interesting. I see most of the sites are suspended. Let's keep an eye on this ...

Seems to be open again. Has anyone done this? I'm thinking it will be my next step, interesting to me is one of the arms is for a genetic disorder I have, which I would assume my cancer would have.

Wow. It is open again. It's worth trying. The number of people with the genetic mutations they are looking for turns out to be small. But there is no reason not to let them run a sophisticated genetic test on your tumor, for free. Just be ready for for no match ... or to turn down a treatment option you are not comfortable with.
