Evening Prayer

I sit and watch from my window,
As the stars come out at night,
Sparkling against a black velvet sky
Filling the world with light.

I sit and watch, and I wonder,
How can this miracle be?
The light from the sun has gone
Then this magic performance we see.

Somewhere high in the Heavens,
God's hand is changing the view.
I bow to His mighty power
The wondrous things He can do.

I sit and watch from my window,
God's beautiful work I survey;
My soul is touched by His presence
When night welcomes the end of the day.

complete emotional security. Peace is living
unencumbered with a full sense of joy. Peace
is expressing Thanksgiving for concrete blessings.

For the peace gained from the love and memory
of spouses and children, we thank you ..

of parents and grandparents, we thank you ..

For the peace gained from the kindness and
support of friends, we thank you ..

For the peace gained when the music of the
Gods is sung, we thank you ..

Peace is elusive. There are raging storms
in every life. Tragedy, grief, and pain will
visit everyone. Yet, each person's life is
graced by moments and periods of
real happiness. For these episodes of
peace and joy .. past, present, & future,
we offer our deepest gratitude.

Help us to understand that peace must
be waged. We must resist the gun, the
bomb, "realistic politics," unkind words,
personal betrayals, anger, depression,
despair, and rage. Give us the strength
to overcome these demons. Help us
maintain personal power within ourselves,
so we can pass this liberating power to others.

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also sent up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
And. lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Look into a child's eyes at Christmas, what do you
see?

Eyes shining with happiness and wonder at this magical

season.

Their excitement is almost contagious.

It is this simplicity which is the key that opens the door

to a Christmas full of wonder and joy.

Just close your eyes to the world around you and ask

your Guardian Angel to guide you back to a time long ago

where a tiny Child was born on a cold and frosty night.

Not in a palace fit for a King but a manger full of love,

where even the cattle bowed their heads in silent adoration.

A golden light from Heaven above transformed their humble

surroundings while a chorus of Angels sweetly sang "Hosanna in

the Highest".

His Virgin Mother held Him tight warming His tiny body,

while Joseph gave praise to God above for his special

little family.

So as you prepare for Christmas day just say a little

prayer, for it’s in the heart that the Christ Child lives,

it’s the cradle of the soul.

Loving Father, Help us remember the birth of Jesus,
that we may share in the song of the angels,
the gladness of the shepherds,
and worship of the wise men.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting. Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings, and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May the Christmas morning make us happy to be thy children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven, for Jesus' sake. Amen.

Jewels from Heaven

I took a walk down a woodland trail,
without really expecting anything new.
A rustling in the leaves made me pause,
and wonder what was hidden from view.
I kneeled down and spotted a tiny, white flower,
so perfectly formed to bloom for just an hour.
Thank you, Lord, for showing it to me alone,
such a secret I would never have known.

God sends jewels from heaven,
when I stop long enough to see.
Rare and precious treasures,
to show how much He loves me.

Once, I ran to the edge of some trees,
with a heavy burden in my heart.
The scent of a warm, summer rain,
wafted by on a gentle breeze.
A brilliant, red cardinal came to call,
and sang a cheerful song just for me;
and to think, I could have missed it all.

God send jewels from heaven,
when I stop long enough to see.
Rare and precious treasures,
to show how much He loves me.

I stepped outside late one night,
for just a moment of peace and quiet.
The wind softly whispered to me.
The black, velvet sky held a crescent moon,
and a million silver stars gave their light.

for this glimpse of beauty I might have ignored.

There's a story often told
Of a man who lived
In a house at the end of the road.
A light in the window
Gleamed day and night --
A guide for the lost
In search of their goal.

As a very young man
He traveled the world twofold,
In pursuit of life and himself.
He found in each house
With a window of light,
A tiny piece of his gold.

The light glowed with

of confidence on her face,

she is strong enough for the journey,

IMPERFECT COMPARISONS
Do you bemoan the size and shape of your various body parts?
Is your hair too thick or too thin or too curly or too straight? Are you too tall or too short?

Who changed the standard from 'perfect the way you were born'
to 'perfect the way someone else was born' anyway?
It doesn't make any kind of logical sense.

If we judge our appearance by the way someone else looks,
or compare it to a standard set by society, then we're not giving our Creator
enough credit for knowing what He's doing.

The next time you pass a mirror, stop and have a good long look,
then repeat these words, "If it's good enough for God, it's good enough for me!"
