Problem with clavicle

Today my oncologist saw that my right clavicle was swollen. This is the opposite side of the original cancer and just above my chemo port. He thought it was a blood clot and sent me for an ultrasound but that found nothing. He's sending me for a chest and neck CT next thursday (long time to wait). Has anyone else had pain and swelling in their clavicle? Was it due to cancer or something else? Also tumor marker jumped from 20 to 27 in one month but was taken only 3 days after my faslodex shot. I know 27 is still in the normal range but its the 7 point jump that bothers me.

I had issues with nodes in my clavicle that ended up being due to a tumour on my remaining thyroid! Got the last of my thyroid out and the nodes settled down. They had done what they were supposed to do.

Keep us posted here as others are reading and not posting. Good luck sweetie!

I have swelling above my port. I think I even have a fat face on that side. It's not cancer and my mo says not to worry. It's just soft tissue.

My port continues to work so.... I live with the swelling. It's been a year or so. I believe exercise helps the most to keep the lymph moving. That and drink, drink, drink.

Hope yours continues to be nothing but soft tissue too.

No cancer, it turned out to be a blood clot. On blood thinners. Whew!

Hi Zill: Interesting post. I have swelling on my left clavicle and my face is still slightly swollen on the left side too. I swelled in my face after my 4th chemo treatment in November 2014, and it is still swollen. Doctors check the area and do not feel anything out of the ordinary. No one has been able to explain my swelling, or even notice the slight difference on my face; but I sure do. It really bothers me, but I just have to except it because I do not know if it will go away.

My primary care physician said it probably will not go away.

What did your MO mean by soft tissue swelling? Can you explain?

    Thanks.

Not really. I had a port study. It's fine. He said its nothing to worry about. Just soft tissue swelling. Not very reassuring but I trust my oncologist.

The swelling is annoying. I don't like how it makes me look. But I'm alive.

I wonder if it's lymphedema. I haven't talked to my therapist. I have a pump and want to try it on both sides to see if that makes a difference. I only have one sleeve and it's very hard to sit for two hours.

    Hi Pat,

Greetings from my home state WI. I now live in AL. Yes, I have swelling in my clavicle opposite side of where my cancer is and above the chemo port. They all tell me it is because that is where the port was. They check my lymph nodes, and say they don't feel anything. If it was the right side, I would think it is lymphedema, but it is on the left where there was no cancer. Hmm-mm strange things do happen, so it seems.

    Have a great day!

    Cindy

    Hi Pat:

At least your MO is addressing the swelling, and checking it out.

Let me know what you find out. Private message me if you would.

    Thanks.

CT found it was a blood clot. I am now on a blood thinning medication. Thanks for answering my post everyone.
