Just diagnosed
Hello my name is Tina and I am the mother of 4 and a wife. I had to get on here to be able to stay as positive as possible that I will make it out of this tunnel. I found a lump in January of this year and went immediately to the doctor. They told me they couldn't give me a mammogram at the time and told me they were certain that it was only fibroid in the breast. Months later the "so called" fibroid began to grow at a very fast speed. By this time I'm worried and scared and so is my husband. Just got the diagnoses that it was indeed cancer that I could have had removed early on before it became this massive. Now I have to go thru chemo therapy before they will even consider removing it. I'm praying that this works and it shrinks as quickly as it grew so we can do the surgery and I can get back to my everyday life. I can't imagine not being here for my kids or husband and that is secretly tearing me up on the inside. I keep a smile on my face for my kids and husband but Lord knows I just want to break down and cry hysterically. Please if any of you have been thru this or is going thru this reach out so I want feel so alone.

Hello Tina. I'm so sorry you found yourself in this situation. It's never easy at first, like having the rug pulled right out frunder your feet. That really stinks that they didn't do a mammogram in January. Anyway, what's done is done. As far as having chemo first before surgery, this is very common if the tumor is large, it's so they can reduce the size before surgery and there is studies that show that prognosis is better that way. Have they staged you yet, do they know if it has spread anywhere else? This forum is intended for people that their cancer has metastasized to somewhere else. There are forums for each stage. I certainly hope that yours has not spread yet and you won't have to join us here. I do hope your treatment goes well so you can pick up the pieces and go on with your life. Wishing you the best.

Hi Tina, I'm very sorry that you have joined this community. However be happy that you've landed exactly where you need to be if this is your new 'normal'. There is so much love and encouragement from the most strongest and honest people you will ever meet, here on BCO. This is a place to ask anything, to rant, and most importantly to LAUGH!
You're at the scariest part just being diagnosed and not having started treatment yet. So many what-ifs. Don't look back because you can't change what 'should've or could've' been done in the past. That will weigh you down and you need all of your strength and energy looking forward. Chemo is bad in varying degrees. You'll be hearing, 'It's different for everyone' regarding chemo SEs (side effects) and almost every other aspect of your cancer treatment. Remember though that whatever happens, YOU WILL GET THROUGH IT because we got through it and we're all here - worldwide - knowing what you're going through and holding you in as many ways possible without physically being able to.
Focus on hoping for the best and if it turns out anything less - you and your medical team will deal with it and this forum will help you think of questions you didn't even know you needed to ask to help you make the best decisions on what is the best for you and your family to get you on the other side of this.
Breathe Tina, we've got you.
Vicki
