Dear ajohnson, sorry you are having such a hard time. I did this combo for about two years and the results were great - stable, stable, stable. The diarrhea was tough for sure. The nurses told me to take as much Imodium as I needed, more than the label said, and I lived on the stuff. That and figuring out which foods were worse and which were better (no coffee, red wine, fried food, fats etc. for example) and I was ok eventually. I know that there are prescription drugs that can help.

A word of caution: xeloda can cause some serious foot problems, and the sooner you jump on any hint of a problem the better. There are some xeloda threads somewhere on these boards with lots of good advice. Good luck and hang tough. SUE

I was on tykerb for 3 years. I had to stay away from all leafy vegetables.Anything spicy. Know where all of the bathrooms are located. If I went on vacation or had a special event I would ask the doc if it was okay to lower my dose for a while. That helped.

Good luck. I am on Xeloda now, no real problems.

I am starting this combo in the next few days, as soon as I receive the shipment. I am very nervous about the SEs but I am currently suffering from severe neuropathy from a possible brain met so I am hoping this combo helps. I'e purchased the Immodeum, Pepto, probiotic and lotions to combat potential hand/foot syndrome. My MO is only giving me 500mg of Xeloda because my initial BC diagnosis was Her2+++ so the feeling is the Tykerb will do the job but it works better with Xeloda.

I plan on eating lots of pasta, rice and bananas.

I am cautiously optimistic that this combo does the trick.
