I have a question. For my 38th birthday I was dx de novo MBC almost 3 years ago. I only have mets to lymph and bones right now. My treatment started with hormone therapy and I quickly went through 3 different kinds. I did a course of A/C treatment and the cancer progressed within 10 mths. I am lucky to still have my primary tumor, which has been biopsied again. My cancer has become endocrine resistant.I am starting paclitaxel next week. I feel lucky in some ways but also feel that I am going through treatments quickly. I guess I am hoping to know...I need to know, from all of you ladies, am I in a good spot? What are your opinions on my outlook, prognosis?! Any guidance would be much appreciated. I am driving myself crazy with googling and Docs always give the same answers, wait and see, but given the massive experience within this group, I was hoping for a little more! Thank you all in advance! Fight on lifers!!!

curleygirly, we like to say here that none of us has a "use by" date. Even if the docs could give you a survival prognosis, everyone's prognosis is different. They really have no idea! You certainly don't want to compare yourself to anyone else. . .you're unique! And so is your cancer.

It could be that paclitaxel is the magic bullet and will kill off all your cancer cells. You might be on it for years and years. Each of us has a different "magic bullet". Wait and see is so so hard, but it's the right thing.

Dr. Google is terrible in this regard and you should stay off that part of the internet.

In your quest for a chemo sure to work, some of the major cancer centers do genetic testing of tumors to see if there is a mutation for which they can use a targeted therapy. If yours doesn't you can join a biobank or trial that does.

There is also so-called "sensitivity testing". Its not mainstream, but I'm sure someone here can provide a link to a lab which will test your tumor for chemos it might be sensitive to.

Many hugs and wishes that Taxol does the job for you.

    Thanks Pajim

I guess I am feeling really restless and just do not know how to fully deal with this, still, even after 3 years. The waiting and seeing, the never knowing, the constant questions it is quite maddening!!! I will try my best to stay in the now and be thankful to see another day!
