Hi everyone.
I have not posted much lately, living life ect..... I dont want to bum anyone out but I am really upset and scared right now. I went for my 6 month check up last week and my MO said everything looked great! I am going on 7years NED......However I got a call back from him yesterday that sent me to the really bad place!!!
He told me that the blood work came back and my Liver chemistry was not normal.... He has scheduled a CT for next week. I am looking for anyone that maybe has been through this.....could it be anything other then mets...
I just dont have a good feeling about it....so sorry, but I really need friends that understand right now..
Thank you and God Bless all my sisters on this crazy journey.........

Hi faithful. I just went through the exact same thing last week. Since I had no radiation and no hormone therapy, my MO is super watchful. Super high liver enzymes - I refused a CT so we did an ultrasound instead. Result: fatty liver, no tumors. Prescription: cut out all fat and simple carbs from my diet. I hope your results are the same.

Yep me too. The high enzymes were just due to wine, which is common with alcohol. If it's not astronimcally high, get the Liver enzymes repeated before scans

I had issues with liver chemistry that turned out to be from the anastrozole, this was almost 2 years after starting to take it. They had me stop taking it for 2 weeks, and the liver enzymes went back to normal. First they switched me to aromasin, but the liver enzymes went back up again, and then they switched me to tamoxifen and every went back to normal.

I hope everything works out with your CT, and it turns out to be something benign. If it's fatty liver, that is not too worrisome compared to liver mets.

my liver enzymes were elevated at my last physical. Doc said it could be due to Tamoxifen. She had me come back in one month to re-test. She said that if liver enzymes were still elevated, she'd have me do a liver ultrasound. I did not have a single alcoholic drink for that entire month, and my enzymes were back to normal. Doc reminded me that I should limit myself to three drinks per week :-(. I don't typically drink a lot, but I'm much more careful now.

I agree with the other poster, unless the numbers are scary high, I'd have them recheck in a mo th and stay away from things that are bad for your liver such as Tylenol and alcohol.

I just had my first normal liver reading in 2.5 years. They first started to climb after Adriamycin, they continued to climb with Tamoxifen and Effexor. Had ultrasound done...non- alcoholic fatty liver...weight gain and med related. I stopped both meds in the middle of June, have lost some weight and am finally breathing a sigh of relief.

PS....there is a thread here on BCO named Crazy Town...you would be surprised how many people go to that "bad place". The women there totally get it and you are more than welcome to come and go as you please....very supportive group! Hope to see you there.

I think he's just being careful. There are so many things that can cause liver tests to be abnormal. Liquor, change in diet, different medicines, what you eat. There is no way anyone can infer liver mets by a blood test -- something has to be seen and tested. Sorry you are worrying so much about this when it isn't liver mets (again, he hasn't *seen* anything, just an abnormal blood test) but that's how our minds work. Something comes up and we always think cancer. But it's hardly ever is.

Faithfulheart, my liver enzymes were elevated once when I was on chemo, toward the end. My onc sent me for an ultrasound and all was fine. Liver tests, like tumor markers, can ebb and flow due to a variety of reasons. Until you have more solid information, try to stay busy and distracted, is my advice. Ride your bike, take a walk, dig your garden, concentrate on a work project.

    Gentle hugs coming your way.

I started chemo with elevated enzymes that climbed through my treatment. It was unnerving. I had a ultrasound of my gallbladder that was clear and a liver MRI that was also clear. My MO chalked it up to Tylenol use for biopsy pain for the initial elevation and chemo for the climb. I'm hoping to have them checked again now that I'm done with treatment. My point in sharing this is to relate to how scary going through all of the testing is. I appreciated that my MO was thorough but it was a lot to live through.

Oh! thanks for coming in, Faithful, I've been peeking in here all week, hoping to hear great fantastic news like "fatty liver disease." This is a weird world we live in.

I think I've read somewhere you can reverse FLD. I'll take over the wine stuff for you, you handle the sugar and the carbs...

As I posted above, myliver is normal again after 2.5 years. Chemo, weight gain, tamoxifen and Effexor all contributed. I am off those meds and on new hormonals. I started 21 Day Fix clean eating program and PiYo exercise program in July. I am down several pounds and inches with only 30 minutes of exercise a day. I rarely feel hungry and it is super easy. Walmart tries a similar portion control system. Recipes and meal plans can be found by a simple google search. For me, meal prepping is the key. Having all my weekly meals ready and waiting keeps me on track.
