Don't know about these blood tests. Was a bit concerned that my CEA went from 6 to 14 in 2 months. Any thoughts?

Tumor makers are reliable for some and not others. Have your tumor markers been reliable in the past (ie did they rise when you had progression)?

I have the CA27.29 drawn monthly. So far it has been a reliable tool for my MO to measure any progression.

As my mo says, "My TMs show great fidelity"....so I cling to them! My Cea is super low- .7 - but my ca2729 would fluctuate between 5-16, once in the 20s. It's when they continue to trend upwards that they take notice, if they are, like Goodie says, a reliable indicator for you. I have mine done every 3-6 weeks, with Herceptin. My center quit doing 2729 & replaced it with 15-3. I'm bummed because 2729 is what I've had for 7+ years. Depending on how often they're done, I found that when I had them every 6 weeks, one time would be up, the next down...and my onc always said they normally zigzag. I hope that's what you're seeing.
