That's a great photo of the two of them!! They are both beautiful. What fun they could visit and get to personally know each other. Thank you for telling me where I could see it. Sorry you folks are all melting. it's maybe 70 and cool, breezy and cloudy here. I've spent much of the day under a blankey... when I wasn't puking. Thank goodness for zofran. That stuff works. I took some reglan and puked everything up 15 minutes later. Got a quick message from onc and we will try gemzar, Oriole suggested it. It is on the list of chemos others have taken like Diana and Nancy. Bless them both since they have passed on.

Rosevalley, I am so sorry to hear that you have been dealing again with all that. You were so right when you said that it's amazing how quickly things can go downhill. I just had a crappy few days of feeling all the discomfort and pain and belly swelling again because Taxol had stopped working and so did my bowels!! I Couldn't believe how fast those symptoms came right back! I'm so glad to hear that your onc has Gemzar as a plan for you. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping so much that it works for you. And fast!!!

Well for as weird, weak and tired as I feel my labs were reasonably good. The body has amazing abilities to maintain itself. My liver enzymes went up a bit, calcium is a little low, and everything else looked fairly good. They gave me a liter of fluid for the liter I pulled off yesterday. Yay.. I managed a cup of water and 2 clear boosts 180 calories each that's my grand total from breakfast to dinner. I ate a piece of cheese and thought I would be fine but I threw it up along with 1/2 the one boost. Sucks. I just can't eat anything solid it does not stay down. Not taking enough calories in to maintain myself. Zofran and CBD oil and relief. I got the gemzar today.. yay lightening fast approval. I also got steroids but I don't feel them. I hope it starts to work.

My poor DD3 spent 11-6 in transit or sitting in the lobby coloring and playing on her tablet. Boring day for DH and DD3. Why are chemo suites so COLD?? I fell asleep under a blankey but stil felt cold. We all had blankets on. It's depressing watching all these cancer patients young, middle aged and old pour into the suite for treatments and chemo. Amazing how many people walked through a crush of humanity with their ID bracelets and ports. I sat prayed for each, lovingkindness to each. In particular an older gentleman with a lovely sweet face, doing word search puzzles. We locked gaze and he smiled in solidarity- two patients sharing the same experience. Most patients won't look too hard he did and it was warm and accepting.

Thank you profoundly for your support and well wishes.

slowdeepbreaths- how are you doing on the gemzar/carbo? May you do well.

Loving kindness for you, dear Rosevalley!

Thank you for staying connected with us. We are connected with you!

Sending extra warmth to ease your chill, calm to soothe any steroid anxiety.

I'm up early with nausea (not vomiting) and heartburn. You know how it is.

    Signing off in solidarity!

May sleep bring us both the sweetest of dreams, Rosevalley, Stephanie

Stephanie- Don't I ever know. Did they ever get the drain to work? I hope so.

I slept in the recliner after 3am.. reflux and nausea. Once I did that I was fine until 8:30! Not too bad. Took off 1000cc and it appeared a lighter in color. I got the Gemzar yesterday. Interesting my tumor markers came back 760 which dropped from 824 I think. So the abraxane was doing something to drop it 64 points in a week. My symptoms, N/V and inability to eat aren't reflecting that. So I am puzzled. I need to be able to eat or drink enough to sustain myself. One square of cheese yesterday sent me to puking in a bucket. It takes forever for food/ fluid to leave my stomach. My intestines were making all kinds of noise yesterday evening, so maybe the cancer is in retreat there fingers crossed. I feel better with the fluids yesterday. Ahhh IV normal saline is lovely. Now to pray gemzar works faster and better.

May you all have a good day. Lovingkindness to all.

I know many of you garden and feed the birds and enjoy nature, so I have a request for you out there. We have a hummingbird feeder on our feeder tree (12 ft post with brackets and feeders hanging on it). We were fine for the longest time then recently we have been plagued with bees. So many bees that poor hummingbirds can't get in there to feed. Is there anything non toxic to use that works? Any ideas fellow gardeners?

Patty you will appreciate this with all your intestinal issues this past year. The Gemzar has given me terrific gas and diarrhea, so bad I have had 2 accidents.. thank goodness for SHOUT laundry remover. The smell is so God awful I have all the windows open and my DD3 came in and asked if the dog had an accident and where was it. I started laughing and said "no kid it's your Mom... sorry. Can't blame the dog." She made a face and told me I am so sorry. Sigh... at least all the plumbing works. Good news no puking today and I have drunk 2 boosts and water. Maybe it's working!!

No one has any ideas for keeping bees away from hummingbird feeders?

Rosevalley , I don't start the Gemzar combo until the 27th. I've read that many tolerate Gemzar very well. I've also read that diarrhea is a common SE. I'm holding out hope this will work for you.

If you figure out the hummingbird feeder dilemma, I'd love to know. Mine always attracts bees and ants.

Rosevalley - I know nothing about this, but Googled your question and found this video. The resolution seems simple enough - and apparently it's quite effective. Hopefully it's just what you're looking for...

Oy just got back from counseling with DD3 and did 20 min shop for dinner/supplies and I am beyond tired. I hope my body adjusts to gemzar because I feel awful. I am just weak, tired and dazed. It took eveything I had to do that one errand and I am going to go lay down. No puking still diarrhea and back pain. I feel bad since I have no energy for doing things with DD3. My hair is just coming out in handfulls.

Rose--so hoping this gemzar works for you! Fluids are amazing aren't they?! I wish sometimes I could just walk around with a bag hooked up!

Sorry you are so tired. Your body has really been through it! I'm not surprised you're tired. Sometimes I feel like our gi tract is probably way beyond messed up and repair. Yours has definitely been through the ringer!

We are standing with you through it all. I have a feeling we have all messed up a pair of underwear in this stupid cancerland! Much love

Rose, I'm also hoping gemzar works for you. So sorry you have hit exhaustion. Hopefully it is your body trying to rest to heal itself. No puking is a big plus. Hoping tomorrow will be better for you. Still praying.

Rose I think the first round of anything is hard because of the unknown factor then add in back to back chemos and the n/v misery and dehydration. Now wonder you're exhausted.

Be kind to yourself and drink, drink, drink. Can you stand Gatorade? Maybe you need some electrolytes. I don't know what boost has.

Can you do the BRAT diet? Bananas, rice, applesauce, toast to combat the diarrhea. I can understand you not wanting to use any Imodium yet.

I hope you have a restful weekend. I'm still amazed at the things you accomplish. You are superwoman!

    Good morning, Rosevalley,

Honey, of course you're exhausted - you've so much loving concern for DD3 and your very existence is tied up with being there for her, keeping her here and finding a way for yourself to get out of here, while hoping that she's going to be okay to stay on this side.

Just typing up your conundrum is exhausting, sweet Rosevalley.

I can't imagine how living in the thick of it is.

That's why there are fur babies, gardens and loving, supportive friends like us.

Hope you you can release with ease into our warm and loving virtual embrace.

May your treatment deliver the results your family and you need need now and may you find peace and release during this grueling process.

    It isn't easy!

    Sweet sleep, my friend, Stephanie

Well Gemzar is working. I ate yogurt and kept it down! I haven't puked and I feel a little better. Yay. Yesterday I was just walking around in a fog.. just trying to get through it. It's amazing how just eating a little something makes you feel better. Boost gives me terrible gas and bloating. I guess it is the whey protein. I don't know. I do feel much better today tired but not slammed. It's cool and rainy. This is the last day of rain before the heat turns on and we get hot 85-90 temps. This has been a very mild summer. Thank you for the words of encouragement... I needed them. May you all have a good day. Hugs!!! rosevalley
