Dear Lvin, this was suggested to me at one point. I talked it over with a second ophthalmologist and also with my oncologist, and their view was that this surgery often did not resolve the problem, at least to the satisfaction of the patient. You might want to get a second opinion. Best to you - SU

Did they try opening them with an ice pick type device? I had this done and it was an in office procedure that took 15 minutes with local anesthesia. It didn't hurt and I walked out of the office feeling like a new person. After that, you may be able manage the issue with steroid drops. My issue never returned post procedure and I didn't need to take the drops. Seems like it would be worth a shot before you have a drill in your nose! I think this issue/these procedures are rare because the other opthamologist in the office came to watch the procedure on me and noted he had never seen it done in his career. I felt like a zoo exhibit!

I have heard of putting stents in the ducts but I am guessing they are too scarred? I had this issue with adriamycin but luckily it went away. It was really awful. Constant crying. I hope you find a good solution.

Along with what HLB said, I was told that if the "ice-pick" procedure didn't work, stents was the next step. Drilling into nose was never suggested as an option for me.
