Has anyone been on Olaparib?

My oncologist mentioned the possibility of trying Olaparib, which I know is specifically for ovarian cancer, but has been tested on TN BRCA 1/2, Stage 4 breast cancer patients. I'm curious to find out if anyone has been on it and how it worked for them. Thanks!

I have asked about parp inhibitors on this site in the past and got many responses. I am brca 2 and have seen optomistic research about the possibility of parp inhibitors working for brca 1&2 breast cancer patients. Good luck

I've been on olaparib since 12/2014 as part of a phase 3 trial for brca+ patients. I had close to a complete response, but after a year, had a little progression in some mediastinum nodes. Radiated those nodes in 12/2015, and went back on the olaparib, with no or very little progression (last CT was a little ambiguous).

Olaparib, a.k.a. Lynparza, has been approved by the FDA for stage 4 ovarian cancer (maybe just for brca+ patients???), and I expect will be approved for breast in the next couple of years.

The pills, 2x/day, may cause a little fatigue, but otherwise, I've had no side effects.

You can PM me for more info.

    Pillow,

Thank you so much for being part of the study. You're being very brave.

I know that the Olaparib is a chemo drug taken orally, I'm wondering if you're using it with another traditionally administered (IV) chemo drug and if so what's your IV chemo cocktail?

I'm so anti-chemo but it's impossible for me to be anti-Olaparib with my BRCA 1 mutation.
