Perjeta side effects
Been a long time since I've posted. Today was my 2nd treatment of perjeta & my diarrhea has been unbelievable! After the 1st treatment I had loose stool for the next 3 weeks until today. Ever since I got home I feel like I have been in my bathroom. Almost a dozen times so far. I've been using the BRAT diet guidelines to no avail. Also, here's the kicker...I'm not on Taxotere!! Don't worry, I don't have a sub par oncologist. I'm being treated @ Mayo Clinic in MN. WI'll this get better or is this going to be my new normal? I'm so sore & can't keep up with getting water back in. I already drink water like a fish so that is a feat in & of itself! Very frustrated!!

Be glad you're not on taxotere - that's the worst part of the cocktail.
Diarrhea will get less and less with each dose. It seems like it's something that takes your body a few doses to adjust.

Um - doesn't always get better with time for some of us. Afraid to report that I flipped between the big D and contipation for a while, but over the past 18 months + that I have been on perjeta (no tax either) I have been progressively more troubled by diarrhea, especially in the first week after treatment. Imodium helps me a lot, and I know that there are some goods prescription drugs too. Sorry for your trouble, hope you feel better soon.SUE

Hi arenswife,
We're so sorry you're dealing with this unpleasant side effect. There's some tips that might help on the main Breastcancer.org site's pages on Diarrhea and Eating When You Have Diarrhea.
We hope this helps and you feel better soon!

I have a prescription for Lomotil that I take prior to leaving the house....every time. If I have a meal in public I repeat the dose before I even order.
I have used Benefiber before to Bulk Up the stools. Sometimes it works for awhile.
You can get ointment otc for the sore bottom...nupercaine.. It does help.
Hope you get it slowed down. It is not fun. If you have been on antibiotic, you want to talk to your doc and make sure you don't have cdificile.
Good luck
