Kandy, my own twins started my contractions at 27 weeks and I spent the next 11 weeks on bedrest. They were born full term. But I vividly remember those first scary weeks, clinging to hopeful accounts of other moms who had successful outcomes. It's all about HOPE.

My lovely daughter-in-law started contracting with my grandson at 25 weeks, and we were all petrified. She had regular, painful contractions the rest of her pregnancy and every little activity stirred them up. We took her to church in a wheelchair! Then at 41 weeks...she was induced.

From all across BCO, our hands are covering your little man and we are whispering, "stay there."

My goodness! What a change of events! Kandy, your daughter and you and the lil man are all in my thoughts and prayers today.

Jobur, beautiful photos of your niece, and how sweet of those of you who shared positive outcome stories of premies. My sister had boy/girl twins that each weighed under 3 lbs.....between her sixth and seventh month, forget exactly how many weeks pregnant she was....that was about 35 years ago, the kids were in the hospital about two months...now thriving as adults, nephew is in medical school, niece is happily married.

My daughter is still hanging in there. Every thing is the same so at least she is not progressing. Everyday I am thankful for that. Every day means a little stronger baby. Her Dr said that at this point since the meds have not stopped the contractions that it probably won't. But at least the baby doesn't seem ready to come which is good. Hopefully he will be stubborn and hold on in there. Thanks again for praying for my little guy. All the success stories of premie births does help ease my fears. I would like to give a great big group hug to all of you. Y'all are great.

Oh Kandy...Little Man has the strength & fortitude gene!!!! I'm praying for our little guy to stay warm & cozy in the womb but warm & cozy in the arms of all who love him is pretty perfect too! I have an early arriving nephew...a day after my bday almost 12 years ago, whose mama was going to board a plane from Seattle to Georgia the next day. He's perfect...we learned a lot about the NICU...and how modern medicine ROCKS! Will pray for blessings on all of your family!!!

Praying for the baby, your daughter and you. My baby came out at 32 weeks due to my mets dx. I tried to wait until 34 weeks but couldn't. My boy was in NICU for nearly 4 weeks and is a huge, healthy, string, smart toddler now. I met a fellow preemie mom at the doctor and her daughter was born at 23 weeks. I met her and her daughter on her daughter's actual due date, when she was 4 months old (gestational age = 0) and the little nugget was perfect! She was in the NICU for 3 months. Mom named her Miracle.

Jobur, I am going to be Mimi. My daughter is very weepy. She is so stressed which doesn't help. She just got married last May to a wonderful guy and got pregnant in November. I am sure she would have married this guy anyway but she was in a hurry to have a baby because she knew how much I wanted a grandchild. She was trying to fulfill one of my dreams. So she is extremely worried about this baby. I am not as stressed as I was. The Dr thinks she will stay like she is and not deliver for awhile. I hope she is right. Thank you all for caring about something so important to me. Love you all.

Kandy, this will make you laugh...when I was just beginning my nursing career in the 70's, the only drug we had to stop contractions was ETOH. Yes, alcohol. It was mixed up in an IV bag and we dripped it in, hoping to stop contractions. It didn't work very well, but boy...it sure made the poor moms drunk. Thank goodness we've moved on from that!

That is funny, really did they do that? I don't know, maybe not a bad idea, makes Moms be happy. Maybe they should now give that to the grandparents, lol.

Kandy, so glad things are looking up. I can only imagine how stressful this must be for your dd. I am Mimi too and I like it. Frankie, my granddaughter, sometimes just calls me Meems .

    Kandy,

I can imagine how weepy your daughter is. I am sure she is frightened worried, tired, and so much more. On top of all that, her hormones are going wild due to the pregnancy. (Remember what hormones felt like?) This is a scary time for all of you. Like so many other people here, I know many women who have delivered babies very early. Their children have survived to be normal, active people. I spent seven weeks in the hospital during one of my pregnancies and delivered at 33 weeks. My son is now a bright, well-educated adult. During my hospital stay, I met many women who gave birth to tiny preemies. Some of those moms stopped to visit me when they came to the hospital to see their babies. I fondly remember the radiant smiles on the each moms' face as the time came to take each baby home. I hope your little man stays where he is for a while longer, but know that help is ready and waiting if he does arrive early.

Your family remains in my daily prayers.

I will pray right this minute. I wish we knew why sometimes this happens. So sorry that the little angel unborn is in distress. Bless all of you at this time. May God put His Healing Spirit right this minute on the innocent- mom and baby. Carolyn from Nashville

Kandy, was checking up on you and family this morning (so glad that things are good and stable) and thought about this army of aunties that Little Man has, the multitude of good wishes, prayers, good karma that is directed to him, his mom and his Mimi. Community is an amazing thing - glad that we all have one another. Good karma coming your way - fondly, SU
