breast cancer then uterine cancer
My breast cancer was discovered by mammogram in 2012. Lumpectomy, chemo, radiation, Arimidex. Recent very light spotting only after sex. Pap smear, sonogram, and Cat Scan show uterine cancer. Hysterectomy soon. Will know more after. Don't know if this is the proper place for this.

Hi Cindi,
I'm a breast cancer patient, not a medical professional, but some thoughts come to mind.
Until you get the pathology report, it won't be clear whether this is a new uterine cancer or a breast cancer metastasis.
If the latter, please join us here in forum 8. There are a small number of us with abdominal mets, many posting at peritoneal carcinomatosis topic.
Besides the random bolt of lightning from the blue, two other possibilities occur to me - were you on tamoxifen? That can increase risk of endometrial cancer.
Also, there's a fairly common genetic syndrome called Lynch or HNPCC that increases risk of both endometrial and breast cancers. If there are other related family members with those and/or colon cancer, you may want to visit a genetic counselor about genetic testing for yourself and, if positive, for family members.
Meanwhile, you are playing the waiting game.
I wish you peace of mind and well being while you wait and wonder.
Warmest regards, Stephanie

Well, I survived hysterectomy, four of the 6 chemos the Gynecological Oncologist wanted, and radiation. And I'm still here a year later and almost 80. Apparently this was a new cancer--not a metastasis. I am beginning to get a little energy back.
My daughter was diagnosed with breast cancer at 53. I am estrogen positive and on Annnastrazole. I was never told of a genetic link.
Didn't know of any breast cancer in the family although a second cousin told me that my father's mother's side of the family usually died of cancer. Most of my ancestors have been long lived. My mother died a few days short of 90 although she drank some, smoked many years. One cousin died of lung cancer after a lot of smoking, I was extremely healthy until breast cancer at 75.
I was on early birth control pills which I think were heavy on estrogen. At menopause, my doctor insisted I take hormones because it was good for the heart and bones and no hot flashes. I told him my family had great hearts and that the only time I felt warm enough was during rare hot flashes, but my mother had the osteoporosis and was constantly breaking bones, so I took them for a few years.
