POLITICAL JUNKIES

Me too kayb! Either one works for me. I just cannot get on the Trump/Cruz/Kasich train no matter how you slice it. None of these candidates speaks to me or my issues. I am still trying to wrap my mind around the debate where Cruz and Rubio ganged up on Trump and then Trump started calling Rubio "Little Marco" and then talked about the size of adequacy of his "Johnson" in front of the entire free world. I thought I was watching a comedy routine on SNL rather than grown men who want to be the leader of the most complex Country in the world.
Union bashing, scape-goating, wall-building, Muslim hating and other horrible policies aside, I just can't see any of those men giving the State of the Union Address and take them seriously. Hate to say this and cannot believe I am saying it, but they made Jeb Bush look Presidential!
-
Yes, Tina Fey as Palin was very funny and spot on. I absolutely adore the expression "word salad" to describe her speaking style. I can see those words being tossed around in her brain like so many mixed greens and dressed with a light Dr. Seuss
-
kayb, Sarah Palin's speech in Wisconsin could have been a skit...LOL. It must have been tough for her hearing crickets chirping the entire time except when she was introduced and when she finished and maybe one other time. That speech was B.A.D.!! If I were Trump, I will tell her to stay in Alaska from this day forward! LOL
-
I actually think Ted Cruz is more extreme and inflexible in his views than Trump. He is just too much of a politician to answer the questions straight on. He is just sitting back and waiting for Trump to implode. If he sneaks by Trump as the 'anybody but Trump' candidate....that thought makes me crazy too.
I feel like I'm reading one of those Goosebumps books; where you pick what should happen next from several choices, and then turn to page 17....or whatever..... to see what does happen.....almost always the something that happens next is bad, or really bad. I think I'm going out and buy a bag of bridge mix, eat the whole thing, and watch reruns on the MeTV Channel for awhile!!!!!!!
-
I like alot of Bernie's ideas I just don't see how the economy will improve. Worried companies will move jobs oversees to avoid paying taxes. I also would not like to lose my company sponsored health care. I have 8 years till I go on medicare. Ruthbru I agree of all candidates I can't stand Cruz.
-
Hydranne!!! I would vote for YOU!
-
kayb - I spent 20 minutes with that WP transcript and it was some of the toughest reading I've done in a long time due to DT's incoherence. I think your comment, "I noticed that the reporters would ask a question and he would prevaricate rather than answer so they'd bring him back on topic by rephrasing. They'd go from an open ended question to one with a possible answer in it and Trump would then agree with what they said. It made it sound like he had thought of the answer himself." was spot on. Thanks for posting that link.
My belief is that he's gotten where he is through a huge sense of entitlement, lots of family money and a delight in bullying others to get his way.
I find Cruz just as unappealing but in different ways.
-
100% spot-on, Hydranne. Trump has no idea how to get things done other than by buying, threatening or bullying his way through. He's in it to win it but not to do the job ice he gets it. And as to the MSN's RW bias? Follow the money. Who owns most of the networks (broadcast, cable, satellites) and major newspapers? Kind of telling that so many commercials on MSNBC (even more on the sat radio version) are for RW-nutcase PACs or gold-bar paranoia schemes. You won't find anything like the mirror image of that over st FAUXNoise. BTW, during the post-9/11 and Operation Shock & Awe days of Dubya's first term, the NYTimes ran White House press releases verbatim as news items.
-
hydranne,
I'm voting for you too 😉. Although most candidates make campaign promises that they may or may not be able to keep (for various reasons) , many of Trump's promisesare indeed unconstitutional. Someone may need to explain to him how US government works and explain that even though one is president, you are not omnipotent.
-
Kayb - Yes, and I appreciate what the WP was doing by printing that. It was pretty eye-opening, even for a junkie such as myself.
Hydranne - Brava.
-
Gosh you gals confuse me !! Here I thought DT he was the front runner for the Republican Party ??Does he have the most delegates? I'm also confused because from what I can Google and find out he is not being investigated by the FBI? That's odd? Must be the FBI has no interest in investigateing ego's. Looks like HRC was proven innocent of Benghazi ? Which brings me to so was O.J. Simpson!! I wonder if he should had run for president?
-
OJ Simpson? Currently in jail, Hard to run a campaign from there 😉.
Yes, Trump is the one with the most delegates. No dispute there. I missed the reference to a Trump FBI investigation. Who posted that?
-
Thank you, Hydranne.
-
Fact Check! He needs 60% He got 6 delegates in WI. Very much looking like a contested convention. Model today showing him 40-50 delegates short. But this is America and I believe he will be the candidate that goes against HRC if she once and for all can get the FBI off her back. Yup, this is Ameica! We have a former SOS under FBI investigation running for the highest office of the land.
Bernie has really been on her case lately regarding Wall Street. Should be a good debate on the 14th. Popcorn ready!!
-
These comments truly show why DT is just a petulant little boy who likes to get his way and when he feels he won't, he goes off like a firecracker! http://www.mediaite.com/online/trump-having-to-get-1237-delegates-for-the-nomination-is-very-unfair/
1237 delegates to get the nomination has been the number for a long, long time. He wants to be handed the nomination if he just gets "most" of the votes, claiming a voter mandate. This is ridiculous and tantamount to saying "I should get this house because I offered more than the other buyers" even if he was offering 50% less than asking price. That is probably a lousy example, but it is what he is basically saying.
"Since I did not get to the goal, move the goal posts closer to me so it will be a goal." That is probably a better example.
-
April,
Actually, that was a good example, save for the fact that offers on property are not governed by a specific rule, only the seller's decision.
Going in to the races, all candidates of all parties know what their parties' rules are. You can't have a snit fit if the rules don't conform to what you want
-
There has been an interesting discussion the past few Rachel Maddow shows about the convention rules. She has had at leasts two RNC reps or former reps on to discuss them (sorry, with my short term memory issues I can't remember their names). Anyway, the gist of the discussion has been that, actually, each convention makes it own rules. Apparently there is a meeting planned in Cleveland about five days to a week before the Convention at which final rules for that convention will be determined (and Rachel says this is good for Cleveland's economy: hotels are starting to sell out even a week prior to the Convention as everyone wants to be there for that fight). So actually, while candidates do know how many delegates it takes to win a nomination in advance, I am not sure it is true that they really do know all of the parties 'rules'. Hence, lots of posturing going on.
On the Dem side, Bernie got a bit nasty yesterday, saying Hilary wasn't qualified to be President. Made me a bit sad. (As I've indicated previously, I am still undecided between the two). Thoughts on that?

-
Yes, she's going after Bernie. They are clashing ahead of debate. He's not qualified to be president now according to her nor a real democrate. So if you're liberal die hard he's off your radar. . Jeff Weaver is right on about GE.
-
Sanders' comments about HRC are baseless, so it doesn't bother me, there have been so many worse things said about candidates during this campaign.
I look forward to the New York and PA primaries.
For the record, I'm not a diehard liberal. I was registered as a Republican voter for years until the Ohio March primary when I voted Democrat to cast a ballot for HRC. In fact, I worked the election polls in my county several times representing the Republican side and have voted for republican candidates, tho not solely, in the past. But, my views are shifting as my life experience grows and I gain new insights and different perspectives. That's what's so great about the USA. We are free to consider all the information and make our very own individual choice and then change our minds as we see fit,

Maltese,
I made the link hot.
https://www.facebook.com/100005529978082/videos/47...
PS: I had a Maltese poodle mix for 16 years. She was the best dog ever. Now, I have a Pomeranian and a chihuahua min pin mix. It's like having two entertaining, but exhausting children (and they both shed like crazy).
-
Wow 16 years!! I had a Maltese for almost 15 years. She died of heart disease. I was so sad. I then got another beautiful little Maltese that died at 2.5 years old to a neurological disease. It took a big chunk of my heart. I still have her brother who is the love of my life. I got my stage 4 diagnosis right after she passed. I blame stress on it. I was in remission for 18 years before it came back in my bones. They are really so part of your family. Maltese full breeds don't shed but are high maintenance. I love him!
-
Yes, my malti-poo didn't shed either. She had congestive heart failure. Poms are the worst shredders ever. I could make new dog every day with the fur I brush off of her or vacuum up. Neither has an interest in politics.
-
Hysterical and incredibly accurate impressionations!
-
Drat! Can't access Facebook at work ( blocks a lot of good stuff and although I only work for a partner agency, a private non-profit, we have to follow State rules so no FB at work) but will look at that when I get home. My MIL had a Maltese for 17 years! That dog was sooooo smart and adorable. I was devastated when she finally passed even though she lived a very long life.
-
Yes, a certain amount of sniping has begun on the Democratic side. It is my hope that it never sinks to the coarse and crude level it has reached on the Republican side. "Telling it like it is" ie: being honest, is possible without vulgarity and name calling
-
Honestly, since DT announced he was running for potus was when I was being diagnosed with Stage 4. I will be forever grateful to him for helping me take my mind off of this disease by watching him do something no one said was possible to do. Each week the polls went up-- I want to do the same as him. Kill off those cell cancer cells that keep returning!! Believe there is/will be a plan to make things better. New drugs new trials and Fight like a MF to get there and get thicker skin as I fight. I love what he represents regardless that he thinks Rosie is fat and Carley is ugly. So cancer cells I'm coming after you ... Because I believe I can beat this.
-
Well Maltese, now there is something we can ALL agree on. " New drugs new trials" so that everyone fighting this wretched ugly disease do have a long life. Cheers to that!
Edited to add LOL big time kayb!
-
I think Trump speaks well to the disenfranchised, disillusioned and those who want change at any cost (in general). For many people, his unchecked ego, bullying threats and crude, vulgar way of dealing with things is simply not what a president needs to be. What he has revealed of plans/policies, thus far, illustrates a great lack of understanding of the powers of the presidency and the constitution. Yes, much to the surprise of many, he has risen to a place no one thought he could go,which in itself is disturbing (well, maybe not from a man who believes he can shoot someone and not lose votes. Why would anyone brag about that?).
Yes, Hillary has her faults, but she is a seasoned stateswoman, with much experience on the world stage. Alienating allies and slipping into isolationism is not only unrealistic, but dangerous in the present day world. No, she has not always been right, but POTUS is not a job for amateurs .
I have been stage IV entirely during the Obama administration (almost 5 years). Never thought to correlate it to my NED status 😉 .
-
Trump is just not a politician and hypothetically says things. Not being realalistic is an opinion. He isn't president but would certainly be different if was. Hillary's faults are that she is under FBI investigation and was responsible for what happened in Benghazi. I still can hear her blaming Monica's affair with Bill A right wing conspiracy on national tv on the today show.
I don't think Mr Trump is an amateur. Quite the opposite. He's going to make better DEALS that will make America great again. The Iran deal will go down as the worst deal in America history.
I am sure most of you do not like Bill O'Reilly but he is an independent that calls a spade a spade when he sees one.
