Kandy,
I have no advice for you, but I know whatever you choose will be best for you. My heart goes out to you. I will pray that you find peace in your decision and that you recover quickly from your surgery. We are all here wrapping our arms around you to give you strength and comfort.
(((Hugs))),

So, I have another day to think about it. We drove down this morning, we get 30 minutes from where we are going and there was a major wreck on the interstate. We sit in traffic for a hour. So I called to tell them I was going to be late and they made me reschedule. Great, it takes 2 hours to get there. Seems like nothing works out.
-
Kandy, Maybe that was Divine Intervention giving you just a little more time to make your decision.....although why in God's name don't they realize what it puts you through to wait some more?? There was no way they could fit you in???
-
They said he had surgery to get to and couldn't be running late. It was a bummer but I understood. We are on our way again. Hopefully without travel problems. I believe it was divine intervention too. Not sure why, maybe I just needed another day of healing time.
-
So I did get to my appointment today. Unfortunately a day didn't help with the healing, still wasn't. In fact, X-rays were a little worse than a month ago. So I didn't feel like I had much choice, pelvis surgery it is. I asked for it to be scheduled after the baby gender reveal of my grandbaby on March 9. They are coordinating 2 surgeons schedule and the trauma O.R.suite, then they will call and tell me when. Thanks for all the advice and words of encouragement, I appreciate all of you.
-
Thinking of you & hoping you had an uneventful drive & are at peace with a procedure!!!! Sending love!
-
Kandy, At least the stress of decision-making is behind you. Let us know when your surgery has been scheduled. In the meantime, you can look forward to that gender reveal for your grandchild. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Hopefully the angst of making a decision is behind you and you can start to plan for what's next. It's great that you have a two surgeon team on this! I'm sure you will be in the best of hands!
-
Kandy, how are you feeling now that the decision is made? Keeping you in thought and prayer.
-
Mrs. Divine, I guess more scared than anything. Not knowing the outcome is scary. Praying that it all goes well. I do believe if anyone can pull this off, these 2 surgeons can.
-
I'm glad that you have confidence in the surgeons, even as you have concerns about the procedure. Are you in pain now? Sorry for what you're going thru.
-
This has been a horrible experience. This has never stopped hurting. When I change positions like from sitting or standing the bones in the pelvis move. And yes, it is very painful. I have passed out several times because of unbearable pain. For 5 months, I have sit in a chair, trying to stay still. So, that is why the decision wasn't so hard. I really can't live like this.
-
Oh Kandy, I am so very sorry for what you are going through. I cannot even imagine how you have been coping. I am so glad a decision is made and you have not just a Dr. but a team. It sounds like they are pretty confident in your choice as well. I know how hard it will be to wait a few weeks to get going. Hell, it's going to be hard for all of us waiting and thinking about you! Enjoy the gender party and anticipation of your new grandbaby. You will be holding he/she before you know it. Hugs!
-
Kandy, well, that pretty much sucks. Is pain medication effective at all? I know many people don't like taking it because it makes them loopy. I really feel for you. Are you able to get around at all, and how do you spend your time since you've been dealing with this? I'm sure it's an emotional roller coaster.
-
Kandy, we are all with you on this, each of us sending karma, prayers, positive energy. With that much good stuff on board, it's bound to be OK. Hang tough, hon. Fondly, SUE
-
Mrs Divine,
It does suck. In the beginning I took heavy narcotics, even had got up to dilaudid cause nothing really helped. The problem is nothing seems to work when I move. So I decided in January to take myself off of the narcotics and deal with it. I take a lot of Advil, and only take narcotics occasionally now. I will admit to having a glass of wine so I can sleep some at night. The pain medicine really didn't make me feel any different, just didn't help when I needed it to. I spend most of my time crocheting. I do get out some for appointments etc. But it is very difficult, by the time I try to get ready to go somewhere I am exhausted. It's funny how you take little things for granted and don't realize how one part effects so many things you do. Just to put my shoes on is a chore, lol. That leg will not raise up so I can reach it. Anyway, I try to thank the lord that my other parts are still working and pray that this will be fixed soon. Thank you all for staying concerned.
-
(((Kandy))) I see now that there really isn't a choice, given the pain and sitting in a chair for 5 months… no, no, no!!! So glad that you have confidence in your surgeons… it sounds like you're in excellent hands. Have faith and concentrate on that beautiful grandbaby… such a wonderful and exciting thing. We're all here for you!
Sending love…
Rose.

Kandy, your ordeal is unimaginable to me. I am so sorry for your plight. Pain can rob your of all enjoyment for life. I am really anxious for you to go to surgery and see if you get relief. I pray that all goes well and you are dancing by Summer. We're in this with you.
-
Kandy - I'm so sorry for the terrible position you're in. No advice, just know that I'm thinking of you and sending prayers your way.
-
Kandy, I am so sorry you are going through all this. Now that the decision has been made, I hope you can concentrate on the possibility of the surgery being successful and your getting back to some QOL. While it is important to be aware of the risks of surgery, it's also important to hold on to the hope that things will go well and you will regain your precious mobility. Sending you all positive thoughts.
And what have your been crocheting these last months? Wouldn't by any chance be baby things, would it?
-
Jobur,
I have been crocheting lots of baby things, shoes, flip flops, hats. They are all in pink. If it's a boy he sure is going to look sweet, lol.
Thank you all for all the support you give.
-
Hoping you can have the surgery soon and you get relief. In the meantime keep on crocheting! It's a great distraction. P

Hi dear Kandy-
I've been reading this thread and of your situation. You have certainly been through a lot. Most mortals would have pooped out by now. But you persist, and not only persist, you are productive and creative in the midst of it. That baby will certainly be one warm kid--and if winters to come are as cold as this one has been, he or she will need every cozy item you can create...
As is true of most of the ladies writing to you, I don't have any medical/technical advice but just want to applaud you for keeping your sprit on the upswing--and that shows in your posts. And that you have such a nice personality and sense of humor makes me feel I know you already--and like you enormously.
Much good luck during the challenging weeks to come. The ladies here on the BCO helped keep me afloat during my own diagnosis and surgery, etc this past fall/winter.
I'll put you in my prayers..
Trill

Kandy-please add me to the list of those that are praying for a good outcome for your surgery. I am sorry for the pain and discomfort that you have been enduring. I had a hip replacement and radiation on my right femur almost three years ago. It's doing great but tends to be stiff and inflexible. I still use elastic laces in my shoes and the long shoe horn that they have you use after hip surgery. I also had a long handled tool with a loop on the end, which I could use to lift my leg. Not sure if any of these would make it easier for you to put your shoes on but thought I would mention them as a possibility.
Best wishes for the upcoming surgery.
-
Kandy, I have been thinking about you and am wondering when your surgery is happening? I hope you are all rested up and ready to get that damn bone all fixed up and ready for a happy dance! How was the baby shower? Boy or girl this time? Take care and please let us know how you are doing!
-
Hi Kandy, You have been on my mind lately too. I hope you were able to enjoy the gender reveal party and that your grandbaby is a girl so she can wear all those pretty things you have been crocheting! Also hope you are feeling positive and mentally ready (if that's ever possible) for the upcoming surgery. Sending hopeful and healing thoughts your way.

I was just fixing to write y'all. I will start a new thread.
