Wow Tammy, Congratulations!!! Great job. The scale is moving slowly for me but it is in the right direction, I lost 1.5 last week. I finally lost the Christmas weight gain plus a little bit!

Homemom, hang in there...this is a life long process and it doesn't go in a straight line.

Kathy, you are doing so good. If that is what you want to loose you can do it!! But do it for you that the PIA docs!!!

My antibiotics were switched again and I am feeling a bit better. Developed a bad cold over the weekend but am on the mend and returning to work today.

    Have a great week all!!

    Hello girls

Ive started radiation so thats good.  Lovely girls from work taking me in to ky appointments.  Im very lucky.  Weight is being a bit stubborn but Ive veen going to the gym every morning and eating well.  I guess I want to lose in one week what has been the result of seven months of treatment.  I am in good spirits though and I feel really well.  I have to be patient with my weight loss.  My hair is growing back it too will take a while but at least I can see progress.

Nice to hear scales do move in the right direction.  Very inspiring.

Sounds like some chicken soup is needed to get rid of lingering colds.

Take care and thank you for encouragement it means alot coming from ladies who understand what a struggle it can be.

Good news.....another pound lost this week 😇

Not so good news.....more results in......my bone density has dropped significantly but still within normal range for now. Luckily it was extremely high to start! I got a call from the Dr to say that my blood test shows high cholesterol, a side effect of my Femara treatment I think (happens in 30% of patients from what I've read)....I will have to wait until I see the Dr to see if I need medication. I think my diet is OK and I do exercise so I'm not sure what else I can do. Is anyone on cholesterol treatment?

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Tammy, another pound, that is awesome! Yes, those aromatose inhibitors can cause high cholesterol! I take Aromasin, and my cholesterol is above normal! I have been taking it for ten years! I am not taking any statins

    Hi girls

Im supposed to start AI after chemo.  Im not sure what to do.  Kathy how have you found SE.  Im scared about joint pain and weight gain.  My onc has offered me an infusion twice a year to help with bone density.  Im concentrating on getting through radiation.  Losing weight is slow after treatment.  You girls are proof that it xan be done so I'll keep trying.  Im 46 I feel 80 it sounds like the AI are going to make me continue feeling like 80.  I shouldn't be complaining its amazing how far treatment has come.  I just want to feel normal again.  Positive note to end I am making progress in the gym nowhere near where I was but progress just the same.

Cinque, I had joint pain at first but with a little time and exercise it's fine now. My weight only increased through over eating....and a little drinking....in all honesty I don't think I can blame the AI for that!

I now seem to be showing some side effects but I am cancer free and that's what matters!

You're still in the early days of treatment so you'll start to feel better soon. I'm also 10 years older than you so it's hard to know what is treatment related and what is just age related 😉

Kathy, I don't want to take a statin so I'll have to see how high the cholesterol is and then discuss with the Dr.

Hi, Cinque!! I know how you are feeling, it is very overwhelming at times!! But I promise, you will see that light at the end of the tunnel!! Just one day at a time!! I was diagnosed at 51, and I just turned 63! Taking the Aromasin for 10 years has not been horrible, but I am looking forward to April, hoping my onc says I am done!!! I have had some weight gain and joint pain!!! But exercise and diet have helped tremendously!! Tammy is right, staying cancer free is the most important goal!! I am sure you are just beautiful, and even more beautiful because you are a survivor and inspiration to others!!

Cinque, just focus on one day at a time. This whole thing is very overwhelming. I was diagnosed at 51 and it is almost 5 years now. In the beginning I had a hard time thinking I would be alive in 1 year, even though my outlook was very positive. I have finally made it to where I don't think about BC every minute of the day. I do believe I have made it past 1 day!! Progress!! I was put into menopause by lupron injections and then given AI (several of them)(even had a bone infusion therapy-with many side effects) I didn't tolerate them very well so I was switched to tamoxifen which I took for over a year. I didn't tolerate that well either so I stopped I MO was glad that I took meds for 3 years-my quality of life issue became the issue. BUT...we are all different in the way we handle medications. Remain positive and strong and you will get through this....

I wish I could report I was doing better with exercise but this Figgin PMR got me again with another flareup I had to go back up on my prednisone.I had gotten down to 11mg (my face started to return to normal...YAY!!!) and BAM.....My crippling stiffness & pain returned.... I had to go up on my medicine again. Apparently from what I have read this is not uncommon for flareups.....I thought I was doing so good and that this thing may have finally burnt itself out, guess not.....I will remain positive and strong -what else choice do I have...lol

Have a wonderful weekend ladies, Keep up the good work!

    ((hugs))-Janet

    Hi Janet

Im not thinking about AI at the moment it does become too much.  This post chemo weight gain is weird.  I got  through the treatment not putting and then about two weeks later it was there. No gym this week I needed three days of work I have caught some sort of virus but I have stuck to good eating.  Weight loss is very slow but my clothes are starting to feel better.

    What is PMR?

    9/30 rads down.

We're having a heatwave in Perth this week so strictly indoors for me....maybe an early morning beach run tomorrow.

    Have a great weekend.

    Xxx

Tammy that is fantastic on the weight loss!! Have you changed your diet much?? or is it the increased exercise? Great job, such an inspiration!

Cinque, hope the virus leaves quickly and you can enjoy the beach. (My favorite place!!)

Thanks for the support ladies!! you are the best!!

Janet, thank you! It has really been mindset.....now that I've decided to lose weight I've been able to stick to the eating plan. My exercise is the same but I'm not snacking and I'm making some better food choices. The first week was a little tough but now I'm enjoying eating lots of fresh food and my body is responding well.

I had a problem late afternoons, before dinner, when I wanted to eat nuts or cheese or something sweet. I'm now eating a piece of fruit instead and I can then last until dinner. Thank you for the positive support, it helps me to keep going!

I've gotten back into the routine of working out. There is a machine I love to get on and have spent an hour doing "interval" training on it. You can hook up your ear buds to it and it has a small TV screen so you can watch HGTV at the same time!

I do want to do Yoga and Zumba though. Does anyone do those, and if so, do you wear a sleeve?

    Hi Homemom

Congratulations on getting back into a routine. You're on track to stick to it if you are enjoying it.

Ive tried Zumba but its not for me I do know people that do it, love it and had weight loss success.

Ive tried yoga too.  Its brilliant I just dont have enough hours in a day.  Lots of girls from work do it.  It takes a little while to learn but the benefits are well worth the effort.  I love Pilates too.

Sounds like your doing great keep it up☺

HomeMom, I do "hot" yoga in a heated room and I don't have a problem but I only had 5 nodes removed. I don't think Zumba will be a problem if you are already doing interval training. I used to do belly dancing which was fun! You go girl!

Tammy I know, 29 nodes! I was in shock, and then there was only one with a "spec" in it! Thanks Cinque, I'm officially addicted to the machines there.

Kindergarten, it was a lot of fun meeting the girls in downtown Mount Dora and then go to JBokland's beautiful restored home for coffee and these little cheese cake yummies. Then last night I went to Carrabbas and had a healthy meal, but had their Chocolate Dream desert! oh well.

I did go to the gym today and for 30 min did the interval training and then the other 30 I did the leg sculpting workout. Burned 500 calories!
