stage III worried
I had breast III that went outside the breast to the Lymph nodes. I had a full Mastectomy after 6 months of chemo, 33 rounds of rads. Ok wonderful and now celebrating 10 years. I have had a couple of friends that found that they ended up with bone cancer. It started in the lower back pain. I have lower back pain and worried that it is happening to me. Anyone know anything about how it moves to the bones. Both women died and I have no one to talk to.

Do you still see your MO? Have a PCP? Either of them could send you for an MRI to check it out.
I was having severe lower spine pain. My mind immediately thought mets. My PCP ordered MRI. Turned out to be herniated disk, arthritis, stenosis, disk degeneration NO CANCER.

Cupcake, I'm so sorry you're enduring this worry, and have lost some friends to this wretched disease. You must feel very sad.
I've never experienced bone mets, thank you Lord, but I have had lower back pain that made me very concerned. Like Spookiesmom, I had an MRI and it showed all the arthritis and disc issues you'd expect for a person my age and activities. I also had a bad chest cold last fall and coughed for weeks, which gave me upper back pain. Another MRI, another normal outcome.
To ease your mind, you should probably get your back pain checked out by your doctor. It's a painful reality that women--our friends, moms, sisters--die of breast cancer sometimes. But don't assume anything. You've survived TEN YEARS post diagnosis and that's a good, good sign. Gentle hugs coming your way.

add me to the list ... severe back pain ... off the doctor ... off to mri ... medium to advanced arthritis in two places in the spine ....
hang in there !

Same to all....But I get the worry, Back and hip pain is chronic. I am guessing some degeneration from chemo and anti estrogen. We will always just need to keep checking. I was 48 when diagnosed stage 3 and am now 50 and grateful, but I feel as if i have aged sooo much.

Brenda,
This is always something we will worry about, and so it's important to get it checked if it lasts for more than two weeks. I know it's hard to live for joy today and not worry about all the possible bad things that can happen, but that's what I try to do. Some days I'm better than others. Today is a great day! I'm off for a run with my dog, and feeling very grateful. I'm always praying for healing and strength for all you sisters here
Peace
Bobbie

Cupcake - if you look at a diagram of the breast and lymph nodes you can see that actually the tail of the breast goes right in to the lymph nodes so I just see it as it being on the brink of spreading but was checked in time........and I am Stage III too....

my doctor is recommending Zometa twice yearly to prevent both bone loss and as preventative for bone mets (starting when I finish current treatment)

Cupcake, if you haven't done it yet please go see your doctor. Chances are, it's not cancer, but ER+ can sneak back up on us for years and years. Mine was ER+ too. I get very freaked out by new pains, even though I know in my head most of them are going to turn out to be the run-of-the-mill aches and pains everybody gets with time. A good doctor - not necessarily even an oncologist but good primary care doctor - will know that with a cancer history you need more attention, even if it ends up just being for peace of mind.
