Hi, I'm looking for a second opinion. Does anyone know of a MO who specializes in breast cancer/stage 4, based in LA, who you would be comfortable recommending? Thank you so much.

    I love my amazing ONC at the City of Hope, depending on where you are in la, it's a 40-50 minutedrive. If you aren't up for that, ask Deanna, username - dlb823. She is very happy at UCLA. And that's probably where I would go if I ever left City of Hope.

    Daughter -- Just saw your PM. Will respond there. Yes, I could not be happier with UCLA. They are truly leading edge when it comes to breast cancer and have many long term Stage IV survivor patients. I'll PM you my onc's name and contact info. She's absolutely the best! Deanna

    Just make sure YOU read all your reports after every test and not just the consultation notes. My friend and I both had progression under the watch at UCLA (I was there for a consultation) and while they might be good and we might be outliers they missed things (bone and brain mets) and getting those pathology reports from radiology I have seen are key. No leaving anything up to chance.

    Agness I'm sorry to hear about the progression that went unnoticed. That's what we are currently going through and it's very frustrating and upsetting.

    Can anyone recommend an oncologist for a second opinion for my mom. We live in los angeles as well.

    The 2 I highly recommend are first Dr. McAndrews in Berverly Hills who is affiliated with Cedar's and Dr. Waisman at City of Hope in Duarte.

    Dr. Philomena Mc Andrews is ho I would wish every doctor to be like. Extremely thorough and explains everything so well and really takes her time with you. Open minded positive person. The only drawback is wait time.
