Jazzy, dreamt about you last night trying to find your way home. Hoping for travel mercy.
It is cold here with lows in the 30. I know this is your summer temp Ms. Chevy, but it is COLD for us.
-
Loveroflife- I am at the Ontario airport and so far things seem okay. My people in town say the snow has stopped and driving conditions in town are okay, although one has to be careful. The freeway is still closed going east, that is where it is bad. Everything appears on time and should be leaving here in another 90 min for PHX and hope I don't get stuck there tonight with any cancelled flights in to ABQ.
I never ceased to be amazed by the things that happen while you are traveling. Teenager in front of me vomits into the trash bin in the TSA line. Everyone stuck there gagging.
I love holiday travel, said no one ever. #stayinghomeforXmasnextyearforsure

Zills - I know horses are more sensitive than goats. My goats will eat most anything - leftover green salad, apples, leftover bread or rolls or crackers. Not that they don't love carrots too. A real food garbage disposal. My old bucky boy has spent the day under his heat lamp. Can you say spoiled?
Chevy - not that kind of stud - at least I don't think so.
Jazzy - Praying that you make it home tonight. I have seen some horrific drift pictures from the Clovis area and one from Portales. Local channel sent reporting crew just up to Childress area and they looked miserable.
-
Luv- made it to Phoenix. Flight appears on schedule.
Clovis and all eastern NM in blizzard conditions/state of emergency. It is bad over there. I40 closed from ABQ to OK border. Be safe anyone in the path of storm Goliath.
-
Its not my farm:( DAH takes care of the equipment. The "stud" is missing teeth, has long shaggy hair and lives with three other males.
"Zoner" has earned his keep. He was born in 1990. Won several races. Sired 10 crops of racing age, 463 foals, 337 starters, 8 black-type winners, 234 winners of 727 races and earning $11,821,880. So he can live with his three goats and eat carrots.
He's just an old horse on the back of the farm that whinys at you when you bring him carrots. It's about 3/4 mi round trip. Nice walk for me and the kids.
We had ponies growing up. They would eat just about anything. Peanut butter and jelly, Doritos and drink Mt Dew. Would pick blackberries while riding but would have to share.
-
zill. - hooing your kids are on the mend
Jazzy. Be careful heading home k. Any excuse for shopping will work
Sas. - recipe sounds yummy. Will send dh to store for ingredients tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your son and fiance s story. So sweet. I certainly love a good love story
Chevy. - I gotta go back. What's the talk about a stud farm? I wanna go ? Can you like place an order to go? Tall, tan, strong , sexy.....um. Like farmers only.com? I really gotta go back and read.
Insurance adjuster came today for the house now just gotta wait on the auto insurance adjuster. Next contractors interviews and estimates. Tomorrow I got a pet scan. I usually don't worry but am concerned this time. Can't see how it can be stable since ivebeen off meds so much. Ibrance been held so much for low counts and I've missed several Falsodex shots because I was in the hospital. Meds can't work if I am not taking them. Got back on Falsodex 1 week ago and Ibrance Friday.
Hugs all around
Hootie hoo

Zills - your horses do sound like my goats. All stale chips, cookies, bread goes to them. When we go the lake with friends 2x a year I take home all the stuff that has laid around open and they get yummy treats. And lovely for giving them wormer. Bread or Dorito sandwiches with wormer in between. Only thing I don't give them is broccoli/cabbage stuff and meats. Been known to dose one with yogurt for upset tummy.
Patty - in your pocket for your scan. Bringing some banana muffins. Are you getting lots of rain tonight? Some weather forecasts I've heard/read say we might get 1-3" of snow. Bring it on!
-
LMG and Zill- wow! I didn't realize goats and ponies can eat junk food. Thought they only eat grass/ hay. Learn new things everyday on BCO.
Jazzy, you must miss your bed. Hope you made it home safely by the time you read this.
Patty, imaging we all holding your hands tomorrow. I'm bringing peppermint hot chocolate milk, coffe, and maybe tea to go with the muffins.
Queenie, you are still in food coma??
-
lover, I am suffering from a buttered popcorn belly. Why, can I, not stop eating until I am miserable ?
Buttered popcorn is a favorite snack, always has been.
Patty, I will be bouncing around that pocket, having some of Loveys hot chocolate. Sounds good now, take the edge off the popcorn.....lol....fingers & toes crossed for a boring, stable report.
-
In Seattle we hire goats to eat the blackberry vines that grow along the highway right of way. They will eat them right to the ground and it takes them several years to recover. They aren't bothered by how steep the hills are. We have Himalayan blackberries everywhere. They are officially listed as "escaped from cultivation." They have great big seeds, but otherwise make great pies.
DS bought some blackberry vines that are thornless and have huge blackberries. I wish he could remember what kind they are. They were so good we just stood and ate them off the vine.
-
holeinone - new avatar pic ? Pretty
Awake with a horrible back ache. Took some meds waiting for them to kick in. Been raining and very windy all day.
Anyone else up?
Hootie hoo
-
Hootie hoo. Hope you were able to go back to sleep. In pocket for scan.
New farmer supply store has hot buttered popcorn for each customer to eat (free!) at the entrance. And coffee. Floor is poured concrete with chicken tracks to chicken section. Kids loved it. Big selection of wellies (rain boots). DS has split his since coming home from Ireland. Usually hard to find here.
Yes ponies and goats usually have iron clad stomachs. Race horses no. They even bring their own water from home when traveling. Cows can't eat taxus bushes. Them green bushes that landscape most yards around here. Poisonous.
When I was growing up, most younger farmers dipped snuff. Eewe. Not impressed with iron balls dangling from hitch nowadays. Yes they look anatomically correct and just gross. Will have to look around at tractor pull next weekend to see if any meets Pattys description.

Oh eeeeks! I know what you mean Zills..... I've seen a few myself.... I mean hanging on the tail-end of pick-up trucks... These "Boys" just think it's funny I guess.... I remember my Grandpa used to stick a wad in his mouth.... Grandma wanted to just smack him over the head. Finally he started rolling his own.... He would sit in that rocker, with that big metal 9X12 cake pan on his coveralls, and with his stash of rolling papers & tobacco, roll him a joint. He would light that thing and the ashes would be collected appropriately in that cake-pan. I remember his fingers being stained brown.... But these guys that have that plug in their mouth now, is even worse....
Peppermint... we are with you.... I'll go find you a stud..... You stay in bed with your back ache.... It's clear out here, but only like 7 degrees. Taking DH to PC for his "check-up" before his cataract surgery on the 14th. I don't think I'll go "in" with him.... The Doctor will be consumed by his tales of how this hurts, and that, and "what are these things on my scalp" and blah-blah.
I hate to sound like nurse-ratchet, but sometimes, he just does his own thing, even though I hand him 2 Aleve, or a Ranitidine, or Docusate Sodium.... (not all at once).... and then he "forgets" how to do it himself. He is my "ward"..... I must take care of him.......... I'll teach him the difference between Pepto-Bismol and Haley's MO.... but he just don't "get" it..... My medical back-ground ended when I took "Health" in high-school.
I remember trying to explain why we still "do" it, when we don't want any more kids.... to my Daughter's...... They were standing in the back seat when they were little.... maybe 4 & 6.... And the oldest one was getting tid-bits of "baby-stuff" in school.... So she said "But if you don't want any more children, why do you still DO it?" So I ran into a tree, and gathered my senses..... (kidding) and explained.... "Honey, making love is just like making gravy.... like cleaning house.... it's just a part of being married.".....
SHE was told that making babies is just something you did when you wanted another baby.... and everytime you DID it, you had a baby.... Oh Lord help us ALL! So I avoided the subject until she was maybe 16.... THAT'S when I found out she was on "the pill".....!!!! Damnit! So I called the school, planned parent-hood, and I was FUMING! How DARE they advise little girls about this..... ..... this MOM's stuff!
When Janie got older I then asked Sheri to please explain to her about the advantages of taking "the pill." So I was growing up too.... Hah!
THEN, as littlest got older, and I was going to wash her little cloth "hobo-bag".... a thing of rolling papers, a bag of "seeds" and this glass thing fell out of her purse.... ! WELL !!!!! When she came home from school, I marched her into the bathroom, and dumped that little precious bag of seeds down the toilet. And she watched it trying to get flushed down, and all they did was FLOAT! I finally got them down, and told her how I felt about that little screw-up!
And I didn't "buy it" that that bong was Lorraine's ! But I didn't break it... Today she is the sweetest little Daughter anyone could ask for.... both of them are.... And OH! That time we went upstairs to their room, and she had this HUGE pot growing, with a LIGHT on this tiny little weed in the pot! DH went upstairs, drug it down, threw it ALL in the ditch! Pot and ALL! She thought that was rather harsh........ Better the pot than HER I said.
Oh well.... life is pretty calm these days............
-
Pot-pots...
And THESE pots, although empty, were the ones I found out back 2 years ago! SOMEone around here, must have had a "grow" operation.... Either that, or a grow-house closed down, and brought their "stuff" over HERE to get rid of! I got 8 pot-pots....Ha! So I grow little trees and bushes out on my parking now...! Can't waste a thing!
-
Maybe I'll have my kids call you and you can explain the birds and bees. Even though we are catholic they haven't really been around any pregnant women. I know his classmates moms don't want any explanations given by teachers or students.
I got the talk when I was three because my mom had twins. I told the neighborhood. Of course we grew up on a "farm" and had all kinds of birthings. My kids haven't seen any here. DS doesn't want kids because he thinks kissing is gross. I think I'm safe for a few more years. But DD says she has a baby in her belly and she's three! She loves being a mommy.
Back to buttered popcorn. Ever try jelly bellys buttered popcorn jellybean? Tastes just like it. Was my granny's favorite!

Woke up to this winter wonderland

Ah yes bringing your own water. Friends on well water usually brought their own to shows. Dehydrated goats in milk show very poorly - udder suffers. We're on a huge water Co-op. Might as well be city water for all the chlorine in it. Mine usually did OK. I don't give them a steady diet of junk but sure does make them tame quickly. Bucky boy is finishing off an old unopened canister of oats that was very out of date. No weevils and smelled fine. Just bought him another huge generic one at grocery. I could buy oats at feedstore but it would be 50#. Cheaper for me to buy cheap generic and not chance it getting buggy out there. I wish I could stake mine out but not trusting enough. Most are not lead trained so not able to walk them far. Oh the building supply store has hot popcorn. Must be a country thang!
Hamsters taught DB and I about birds and bees. Guess the dog must not have been a "humper" or we'd have known a lot sooner - pardon my expression.
DH traded his day off. Was to have Thur/Fri off. Called in said I'll trade today for Thursday. Sent his boss these pictures. Ft Worth has no problems. Saw DFW airport on the news - not sure they even had a flake. The sleet started bombarding the N window about 2:30am. Got up turned heat pump off, reg heat on. Woke up again at 4:30 and it was bright white out on street side (no light out there). Yuppers covered with snow and coming down sideways fine stuff. I've never seen the trees so white, it is artistic. DH's cell camera does not do it justice.

brrrrrrr
-
See, it's 78 degrees right now where Spookie lives.... and she gets the shivers anything below 80....
It's 6 degrees out.... but the sun is shining!
-
5 posts here this morning wiped out for different reasons. Must be a sign.

Hi ladies- just a quick note as I have to work today and am getting a late start, but I got home last night! Only slightly delayed into ABQ from PHX, but the highways were in good shape for me to get to my part of town. Secondary roads more iffy, the ones in my neighborhood still have a lot of snow and ice. My driveway is a mess and need to deal with that when I am more "awake!" I just wanted you to all know. So good to be home and sleeping in my own space!
Patty- I hope your back feels better. And that you don't get any of this crazy weather.
Luv- that is pretty much what it looks like here. You guys got our storm.
The freeway is still shut down here, day #3. It was weird to see no traffic coming east last night. I-40 is a huge trucking route so they are all parked at the fairgrounds here.
And more snow tomorrow, oh yay (really?)
Going to work from home this morning because I can and because it will be safer. Will check in later ladies! Be safe in the crazy weather if you are in the way of Goliath.
-
morning all. Bright and cold here. 37 that's cold for us, right Lover?
Got most of my sewing room cleared out and painted yesterday. I still have a section of wallpaper to get down, then have to texture the wall, then can paint it. DD did all the painting so far. Don't know what I'd do without her.
Patty, keeping fingers crossed for your scan. Hope your back is better this morning. Actually you should probably be there right about now.
This was Christmas five years ago:
And Christmas this year with DH and me in it this time. Only missing the two that are in Australia.
So 2 couples got married between these 2 takes. And my DGD is pregnant. Next year we will add 2 more. The couple on the left, bottom are getting married in October. And Evie will be here. Maybe I can even get DS and his gal here too.
-
Smarty- what a beautiful family. When is Evie due to make her appearance? Early next year?
-
can't wait for the baby! Shame you can't bottle that smell.
Did you like Star Wars? Yes or no for a six year old? Saw the good dinosaur. It was pg and thought there was too much violence.
-
Jazzy - so glad you made it back home safely. Yes I kept getting tweets about 40 being shut down.
Lovely pictures Smaarty. Nice looking family. Just realized the round thingy is not a mirror but a cutout into the adjoining room. Tried to figure out how you got more family reflected in the mirror lol.
Wow county vehicle just plowed the road. I've not seen that b4 I don't think. What caught my attention was the snow flying when he rounded our little hill. Roads looking passable now.
-
Luv- it looks like I-40 has opened, at least as far as the state line to TX. That will help the truckers get a bit further. The sun is out here, so I expect the roads to improve as the day goes on.
I went to shovel the driveway, but found a layer of ice under the snow and just did the sidewalks for now. The driveway is at a slope and can see myself falling and breaking something. So I will wait until we get above freezing and then shovel away the slush! Hopefully can get the driveway dry today so there is no freezing over night. More snow tomorrow!

Lover: barely recovering from food coma--still haven't finished the mince pie.
Wren: right. The Himalayan blackberries. Full armor or a wetsuit needed to pick, if you want to minimize scratches. My horse would eat the leaves, prickles and all. Also thistle heads. Very carefully, but with great relish.
Now contemplating making blueberry muffins. It's a crummy icy windy day here.
