Chloraprep rash help!

I had a rash after surgery. Aloe Vera gel helped the most. It didn't itch, thank goodness. It lasted longer than a few days. Good luck!

My surgeon diagnosed my angry rash as a reaction to the Chloraprep when he saw it at my post-op check 10 days after surgery. Since I stoically (and stupidly) told myself that either the rash would either go away on its own or he would deal with it at my post-op checkup, by the time he saw it, the rash had developed royally and had created a fungus infection. He immediately prescribed an oral anti-fungal med and told me to use Benadryl (not hydrocortisone cream) topically to relieve the itching. So checking in with your doctor would be a prudent move. And be sure to add Chloraprep to your allergy list for future medical interventions--some of us would be far better off if prepped for surgery with old-fashioned iodine-based Betadyne!
