Arimidex and beyond..

It's going to be weird not taking this little pill after taking for 5 years now. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what it is going to be like when I finish Arimidex in about 2 weeks? Will I become an emotional basket case now that my body will be producing more estrogen again? Will there be any withdrawals? (my onc says I quit cold turkey). Will I have a sex drive again? I know we are all different and react differently to these medications, but if anyone could tell me their experience with ending Arimidex I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Jan

I didn't feel any huge changes but as time went on I noticed subtle differences: not as achy, a lightening of mood, sleep a little better, hot as hot flashy......the other day I realized I was buying turtleneck sweaters again!!!! I was kind of scared to go off but it is liberating as well to move on. I don't have to remember whether or not I've taken a pill in the morning. I can just live....pretty cool!

Thanks for your reply and letting me know your experience ruthbru!

I agree, it is scary coming off. But it will be nice not to have to remember to take it. Guess I must have missed a few over the five years. I should have finished Novemeber 1st . I hope I get all of the same differences as you did, especially the not as achy!

    Thanks again

I hope you do too! Remember it will be gradual, so don't sign up for a marathon for the day after the last pill!!
