Thanks for the encouragement, Sandy. I had my bob lopped off over the weekend to a pixie cut and my colleagues raved about the change. I also went from brunette to a burgundy/violet color, just for fun. Made me feel so good. Just a few short steps to being "the bald and the beautiful."

I bet your wig looks fantastic and you will garner lots of compliments in your new position. Best of luck in starting that new chapter in your life.

I had my first AC treatment last Thursday, started back to work today. The nausea is awful. Started immediately with hot flashes and nausea, got real bad days 3&4. Felt somewhat better yesterday. Today about the same. Non stop degrees of nausea and tired. think I should have gone with TC.

Woodie glad you're lovin' your funky violet hair.

Great news on the PET scan mvspaulding. Congrats.

Hope you have a good day Sandy. Sure your wig will look fabulous.

I can relate to the nausea Gabby56b. Had my second treatment last week (TC) and the nausea is worse than the first time around.

Had a really bad day yesterday; sick, sorry for myself, teary, tired. Was awful. Today is a little better for me and hoping it is for everyone else too. Hugs.

you guys, buy the sea bands walgreens carry them I'm wearing them antinausea I don't take them off

They put acupressure at this spot takes nausea away! Cruise people use but biz days good for chemo and rad patients it is really helping me. I had no nausea 1st round but 2nd round it is aweful I got these right away and they help a lot!

I see my doc Thursday for blood work and get to confirm date for round 3. I can't think about it cuz I hate getting these! I just want to be done. Metal mouth is worse today so it's not going away but I try not to pay attention to it. Stay busy at home or work helps take my mind off everything. Super tired from work - going to bed early I have a 6.5 hour shift tomorrow! Yikes!!

Hugs guys, love you ladies!! We can do this!

    Sandy,

Thanks for sharing that pic Sandy. I just ordered some online.

I have my dates for my next 2: Tuesday Dec 22nd at 9am and Tuesday Jan 12th at 11am.

Those dates can't come and go quick enough.

Gabby56b and Sandy are you taking oral anti-nausea meds?

I did not take compazine but I have it. I only want to take it IF I have too as in past I get very very tired and dizzy so good to go to sleep after it I see my doc this Thursday we will talk about zofran - But the bands work perfect - Iget blood draw and check counts too - my dates will be confirmed on Thursday but should be 12/21 round 3 and 1/11 round 4. I agree can't come fast enough!!!

Don't take the bands off - I'm not taking any meds for antinausea - just the bands.

it was good to see everyone today and try to get back to a normal schedule but I am so sore and tired right now. Never expected to be in so much pain but I guess just being so sedentary for these weeks works against you. Hope tomorrow is better but not looking forward to Thursday.

Also thanks for all the congrats and the tip on the bands. My Mom works at Walgreens so I'm going to ask her if they have them there. :)

Congrats on the new job Sandy

I have my egg retrevial tomorrow. I get my picc line put in on Friday. And I start my first chemo session on Monday morning. The doctor prescribed me my steroids, and I have clariton on hand in case they give me the neulesta shot next week. Hoping and praying for minimal side effects! I have read so much, all i can do now is wait to see how this effects me. Hopefully i do okay with the picc line instead of the port, I just didnt want to have two back to back surgeries tomorrow and friday, and since it's only 4 infusions, hopefully the picc line is the right choice.

Dear Nebraska..MY MO didn't recommend port or anything else.

my first infusion was NOV 30....no side effects nothing....Hair is still standing..

Didn't use any anti nausea meds..

It feels like nothing happening except couple days of fatigues and I needed to get an injection because of my WBC was little low...flue like symptoms MO said that didn't happen either.

Sometimes I'm questioning is it normal to go without any SE ?

My second infusion is Dec 21.....

So there is hope that you won't get sick.

We are all different....i wish you the best outcome

Sheila, that is great news that you aren't having any side effects. It gives me hope that I will get through this. I start at 9:00 am tomorrow. No picc line or port for me either. My MO said we would try it without one. Hoping I will feel well enough to go wig shopping this weekend.

I went to our image recovery center and they provide cosmetic help. I tried on a few wigs and she was going to order one for me. Even just trying them on with all my hair still was itchy! But I know I I'll probably need one for work when I go back. I have a feeling I will be wearing alot of stocking hats and scarves.

I have a hair appt on saturday. My usual lady was going to charge me $50 still, but got a friend that works at a hair place to do it instead. Couldn't rationalize paying $50 for 12 days of hair. I will hopefully be donating it to children with hair loss and probably get it cut to a short bob or pixie.

Are there any specific things you guys have been told to avoid completely during chemo? Clealry alcohol, and I heard spicy foods. Just wondered if any activities, supplements, meds, etc have been told to anyone?

I'm glad for the good days and minimal side effects some of you are having!

Lucky that you guys can manage with just IVs, my poor veins just wouldn't be able to handle it in don't think.

mvspaulding...Wishing you good luck for tomorrow..usually in other groups we say jumping in your pocket for support

The first infusion which was taxotere was given to me in 2 hours instead of one 2 the first time..to prevent allergic reactions if any.

    Cytoxan is only 1 hour.

Nebraska917 ,,,,,When i was first diagnosed 10 years ago i had a port because of AC chemo..

8 cycles of DD and Herceptin once a week for 52 weeks.

According to my MO this combination is much easier for the veins and it's only 4 times..

hugs to all my sisters here

    Sheila

awesome!! Get a wig cap - when you are bald the wigs are not as itchy and a wig cap helps! I'm so used to it now and I said the same thing - I bought several hats then - but it's almost a month my hair is gone and I wear the wig to work and out but hats to run errands and a cap in and around the house.

My onc says only one vitamin a day / I can drink a Boost nutrition drink as well. He will not allow probiotics at this time. Chemo needs to do its job. I need to walk min 30 minutes a day and can exercise etc. drink LOTS of water!!!!! I drink nutritional juice too like v8 healthy greens instead of apple juice. Avoid orang juice acidic.

The 1 st round is typically good but we are all different as we saw with Guavaberry - so hopefully all up good for you - 2 me round was a lot of nausea when I had none in the 1 star round - get the sea bands. Hair shedding starts day 12. Wait for it. I was tugging on my hair day 11 saying I still have hair maybe I'll be lucky. Next day brushed it and had a brush load of hair! It's not hard to loose - sad but we know we can live through it.

    Hope this helps!

Sandy...thank you for your kind words.

I still have my full hair and today is day 10.....I was gonna shave it but i decided to wait little longer.....

I'm not planning to get a wig just scarves and soft cotton hats will do since i don't have to go to work.....

    Good night

I second the sea bands. They have helped me a lot. Since the first 2 days of nausea I have felt fine. Praise God! It seems that the TC was harder on me than this first round of AC. I do not have a port or Picc line either. I'm walking 3 miles a day and my apetite is good for now. Will have second AC infusion Thursday the 17th. I haven't had any side effects to the Nuelesta shot either. Basking in feeling good for now.

Oh and I chomped on ice chips during my infusion and no mouth sores this time around.

Great pics of you Sandy. Today went ok. Got off to a shaky start because I had to be stuck for IV 3 times before one worked. I then had a lot of burning/stinging with the taxotere so they had to slow it way down and give fluids alongside it. Just feeling tired and a little weird right now. I ate a sandwich when I came home with no problems. Hoping to feel well enough to go to work tomorrow.

Guavaberry, glad you are feeling better with this round!

    Good luck tomorrow Woodie
