Tamoxifen and irregular periods

I have been on Tamoxifen for almost four years. After a year, I had an early period. I had to go through a uterine biopsy (ouch!) an ultrasound and had 2 polyps removed. Well I got my period early again, just 4 days after finishing it and here we go again. I just had another uterine biopsy yesterday and am getting an ultrasound next week. I am nervous yet again. Has anyone had periods close together while on Tamoxifen and it was nothing? I guess I am looking for words of encouragement while waiting to get through the testing.

Me! My periods have been crazy in every way since Tamoxifen. I've had numerous biopsies, and everything is fine. I'm blaming Tamoxifen, and possibly perimenopause. No fun.

Thank you for letting me know. I have an ultrasound tomorrow and I am so tired of having anxiety over it. Knowing what you said, really may help me sleep tonight. Thank you so much. I hope you don't have too much longer on Tamoxifen. I have exactly one year and 1 month left of it. BTW, I am in the same situation as you; Tamoxifen AND perimenopause.

I bled for months on end with Tamoxifen. It does do a number on your uterus but thankfully uterine cancer is so very rare like 1/1000 and tamoxifen increases it to like 2/1000. Perimenopause plays so many tricks of it own. It is all such a pain, but the odds are greatly in your favor that it is nothing.

I did end up doing an ooph and a d&c. All was fine. Then I went on Femara for seven months, and now I'm back on Tamoxifen. It is a welcome relief to me to have some estrogen.

Thanks Farmer Lucy. I noticed you had a Prophylactic ovary removed. Was that connected to the bleeding? I am glad you are doing better having some estrogen.

Angel - yep I decided once and for all to become post meno, reduce my small risk of ovarian cancer, and move to an AI which can be a bit more effective. The bleeding did stop but it took about four months post ooph. Little did I know I'd miss Tamoxifen!!
