Kathy, I hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving!
I had a lovely weekend catching up with some other BC friends....the support and friendship is very special to me...I don't know what I would do without you all (((hugs)))
-
Hi, Tammy, I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful!! How fun, that you could catch up with BC friends!! The comradery is so special!! I had lost about 3 lbs up to Thanksgiving, then gained a pound!! Walking and climbing stairs this week, no sweets or chips!! Those two things put the pounds on me!! I love you all here's
-
Happy Friday Ladies! I made it to neutral zone this week, had gained over 3 lbs the Thanksgiving week and am officially what I was 2 weeks ago. I am feeling better and even went down today on the prednisone, I have found a correlation to sugar and my autoimmune disorder. I feel so much better when my diet is with no extra sugars!! Will keep it going and try to minimize my holiday baking. I have been walking and will ramp up some strengthening exercises.
I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving. Tammy, friends are a real blessing, so happy for you that you have some special people in your life. Kathy, sound like you've been doing a great job, keep it up!!
Hello Homemom and Cinque, hope all is well!
Have a wonderful weekend!
-
Janet and Kathy, great work! I'm back to exercise this week after a couple of weeks break. It is soooo hard at this time of the year - work is busy and the parties have started. This is a photo from just one table at my dragon boat team's Christmas party....at least there was fruit
-
Beautiful and delicious looking Tammy, Enjoy!!! Indulge and work it off!!! Thanks for sharing
-
Hi, Tenaj, it sounds like you are doing just great! I am trying to eliminate the extra sugar as well, I feel so much better!! Good plan! So happy that you can lower your dosages of prednisone!!
Tammy, that table looks awesome!! Enjoy!!! Look at all that fruit!!!
Hi, Cinque and HomeMom!!!
Did a lot of walking today and climbing up hills!! Keeping those carbs at bay, too!!

Hi Ladies, I am trying to keep my stress eating in control. My son is in surgery for a pretty bad ankle fracture he got from playing ice hockey. I am devastated that I am not there. My husband is on his way to Philly to be there before he gets out of surgery. I am not able to go because one of us has to be here for the dog who gets his insulin twice a day now. (no one around to watch him and give him his meds-boy do I miss my mom) The plan so far is that my husband is staying for a few days and hopes to convince him to come with him. He is alone and lives on a 5th floor walk up. He was told he will be on 23/24 hr bedrest for 2 weeks post op. I really don't think he has a choice, but this is mom talking......I miss the kids being little!!! Please keep him in your prayers.
-
Hello tenaj hope your son recovers quickly from his injury he has youth on his side he'll be back into it before you know it. They grow up so quickly dont they. A mother always wants to be with her child especially when they are hurting so it does suck you being at home but he has his father with him and is getting the care he needs. Hang in there mum and no emotional eating you naughty girl. Keeping you all in my prayers.
Ladies how are we coping with festive season food....you know what Im talking about.
-
Desr Janet!! So sorry to hear about your son!! Praying for healing and for peace for you!
-
Good morning Dear Ladies, thanks for the support & prayers. My son did not come home, disappointing to me but I understand (mostly). He is in a lot of pain but hanging in there, Have a great weekend. Good thing I gave away all the leftover Halloween candy weeks ago.....not much in the house for me to be bad with so the temptations are a minimum. It helps that I am dealing with a tooth problem right now, so the pain has made me loose my appetite. OH MY, it's always something. Don't mean to sound like a complainer.....my next step is I am going to get a witch doctor to ward off the evil spells...lol
-
Hi Tenaj
Grab me that witch doctors number☺☺☺
Maria
-
Janet and Maria, witch doctor, ditto me! Janet, sounds like you son is a normal man to me....I hope he recovers soon...
-
Hi Ladies, I hope all is well in this busy time of year. I did not find the find the witch doctor yet, but if need be I will be doing more research in the new year! My son has his post op appt on Monday & my husband will be picking him up and bringing him home for the holidays. I can't wait to see him and hear what the MD has to say. His break was so bad that the MD said he stopped counting how many screws he had to put in. I pray he will have a normal gait.
I have been very good with my eating habits and still have not lost any weight, I do need to do more cardio.....I hope that my PMR calms down and I can resume that soon....I have been good and haven't started baking or making my fudge yet for holidays......Going to have to keep my hands out of the cookie jars!!
I do really appreciate the support from you dear ladies. Everyone has their own problems they are dealing with and I so appreciate you being supportive.
A good story....I have a patient I am caring for now who is in her late 80's (looks like 60's) who had recurrent BC and is recovering from a mastectomy. My personal experiences have made such a difference for her and feel like I am able to help more than just be a nurse. I know when I was diagnosed and the nurse that first spoke to me was a survivor, it made the world of difference to me. I hope to be around a long time to help many more!!
Thanks again for the support and hope to report back that the scale is moving down, at this point I hope to stay the same until after Christmas!!
Enjoy!! ((((hug)))- Janet

How great you have your son home for holidays. It will be nice for you to see him.
I didn't know you were a nurse thaneatu so much for the care you give. Without exception the nurses I have been in contact with over the last few months have been the kindest people who have made such a difference to me.
On the exercise front I have been too unwell with chemo one more to go Xmas Eve and I am excited about being able to start building my strenghth back in 2016.
Started my healthy eating today Ive had a bit of a sugar binge but its over now Ive got lots to do in 2016 and I need to eat properly to rebuild muscle.

Cinque, that's great that your last treatment is coming up! 2016 will be a much better year!! One day at a time, eating healthy is a life long process, not just decreased calories. remember lots of protein for healing & muscle building. Lots of fluids for flushing everything out and green tea is a great natural diuretic. I will be thinking of you Christmas eve ;-)
-
Janet, you must be an awesome nurse! I'm sure we all come here to receive and give some help from the front line. How lucky are your patients!
Cinque, roll on 2016 and the beginning of many new things!
-
Thanks Tammy, I have been a nurse for over 35 years now and I love taking care of my patients, I always treat everyone as if they were family.
-
Hi, Everyone!! Janet, yes indeed you have to be the best nurse ever!! Cinque, 2016, will be the beginning of a wonderful New Year for you! God Bless you, for all that you have endured!!! Hi, Tammy!!
Just came back from a nice walk, it is cooler here now!! Love this weather!! Sticking to a low carb and no sugar diet! Have lost a few pounds!! But, gosh it is hard, miss my bread and sweets!!
-
Kindergarten losing weigh through tyhe festive season that is very impressive. 2015 will go down as worst year ever and although I have been pretty down at times God has sent me the strenghth to get back up. 2016 please be kind to all of us.
-
WOW, Kathy that is great that you can be so good around the holidays!! Great job! 2016 here we come......good health, lots of love and fun for all
-
