Tamoxifen after double mastectomy

With a family history of breast cancer, I opted for a double mastectomy & reconstruction. The oncologist prescribed Tamoxifen as ER+.

My question is......... What benefit would it be to take Tamoxifen to combat the reoccurrence when no breast tissue is left? The list of side effects in my opinion far outweigh the benefits.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Firstly, not every last piece of tissue can possibly be removed from the breast at mastectomy and people can have cancer again even after a mastectomy sadly, when it can metastasize to other areas too.

I am still on tamoxifen and hope it keeps me cancer free

Thank you. I have been using tamoxifen since September and the side effects are now starting to become noticeable. Will discuss with the oncologist at the next check up.
