Starting Tamoxifen and nervous

Everyone is different. I've been on for 6 weeks and I didn't have any side effect until the 5th week. For me it's pelvic pain that I can't even fully describe. Just aches and pulls. I've had ultrasounds and they came back normal. I guess it's the Tamoxifen. I have no hot flashes, some constipation, that's it

Everart70- I have been on Tamoxi for 4 weeks today. I am nervous about it too. Even put off starting it for a few days after picking up the prescription because I am so worried about the blood clot risk. I formed a jugular clot a week after my port was put in in Feb, was put on daily Blood thinner, which I stopped after port removal and surgery.

My MO isn't worried about me forming a new clot but she is having me take a daily aspirin ( more for my piece of mind, than necessity I think)

I have hip stiffness but that could be partially due to Mx and DIEP flap. Have my 8 week follow up with PS today so I will ask him.

I am not sleeping as well and am kind of headachy which is probably the Tamoxi.

I've been on tamoxifen for almost 2 years now and I feel better on it then I did before, no se's !! I have had a few cysts and a couple of ultra sounds to check but thats it. If you have se a different brand can make a difference Good Luck and keep on living and loving !!

I was on it for 1.5 years till chemo finally put me in menopause, and I switched to arimidex (for a while--that's another story). I don't remember tamox being particularly problematic--perhaps a bit more bloating overall, and some fatigue? But also that could have been related to recovery from chemo and rads as well. I started tamox in April, the same time I started rads, and had just finished 5 months of chemo. I do remember some fatigue but it could have been rads/chemo related, since it can take up to 1 year or more to fully recover from those two treatments.

Yes the cyst appeared after Tamoxifen, I've been taking it for 2.5 years. Don't know if it was caused by Tamoxifen or not. But cysts are common in premenopaused woman that take Tamoxifen. MRI says it looks benign, I'm keeping it watched for now. Had what it seems to be my period last week, I hope the cyst is gone.

I forgot to tell but I also have another SE, some pelvic pain. It lasts more or less 2 weeks, every 1.5-2 months and sometimes it's annoying. Also, my period is very irregular, it shows every 2-3 months, this last time only lasted 3 days and without any pain (before Tamoxifen all my periods were painfull). But in general, for me, Tamoxifen SE are almost irrelevant.

Everart - I'm 35, and have taken Tamoxifen for 5 weeks. The only side effect I had for a couple of weeks was not sleeping well. However, I think that was coupled with stress at work. I caught a cold this past week so my body is drained and now have been sleeping. I was worried about the side effects from what I heard, but that has gone away for now.

Something I've learned that my oncologist didn't tell me is to be careful with cold medicines while on tamoxifen because of the reactions or inhibiting it from working. Thank goodness for the internet.
