Arimidex and stage 4

Hello I am posting for my mother who is 58 previously breast CA 18 yrs ago DIS with mesectomy no other treatments. Today she was diagnosed w stage 4 breast CA In reconstructed breast. Spread to lymph nodes in axilary and lung. The doctor treatment is hormone therapy w Arimidex (ER positive)

No chemo radiation or surgery. I'm really hoping for some insight from you all as this has been the hardest day for all of us and we just are hoping to get some feedback regarding this treatment,TIA

    Donnalynn, Glad you have found your way here, sorry for the why. It is a common thing to give arimidex or one of the other a.i.s, (basically an estrogen sucking drug as one of the ladies on here puts it, for stage four. Because you want to treat the body as gently as possible, for as long as possible. They usually use chemo as a last resort, after many only things have been tried. It is about quality of life, and Arimidex is a very powerful drug to treat cancer. Good luck to both of you. you can read other threads to find out more.
