ksusan I've done the sunglasses in the toilet but not my purse, yet. Oh yuck hope you were able to salvage everything.
I'm now freaking about diabetes after reading the posts. Both my parents have it and other family members too. I've always been proactive about trying to avoid or postpone this in my life for as long as I can knowing with my genes I probably don't have much chance. Never thought about the steroids and chemical induced diabetes. Yuck! Like we all need another disease to manage. I see my internist the end of Oct and I know she will be checking the A1c. I guess best I can do is eat carefully and keep moving with exercise.
Kbeee I'm as red, maybe redder than you. Especially under my arm and side where they are doing the boosts. It's draining me. Went to the grocery store today and every brush of my arm to reach or touch to that area is painful. Using plenty of aloe, aquaphor, and miaderm.
For my work attire I wish the weather would turn cooler so I could hide my braless self under sweaters and sweatshirts. Very uncomfortable just with a Cami and top, so much shows thru. Luckily the office is fairly cool and a sweater wrap and scarf are my hide behinds.
After keeping a good part of my eye lashes and eyebrows I now find them thinning with bare spots! Wtf is that when I'm 8 weeks post. Geeessshhh. And yep hair on my legs and arms that I would love to be able to transplant on my head. That is coming in very slow, thin, fine and very gray. And bald spots back of my head so uneven too. So much for my hopes for thicker luxurious hair. The post cancer perks stink! LOL
Rads has also brought on more hot flashes. I was told it would. And I cant wait for even more when I start Tamoxifen later in Oct.
KSusan I don't get dizzy but that warm feeling that starts top of my head and moves down. And still nuropathy bottom of my feet. MO promises me it will go away may take months though. Fun times.
Hope you are all having gorgeous fall weekend weather! It is truly beautiful here in N IL today.

LLooks like I'm going to be either grey or dishwasher blond..anyone know how long it has to be befor you can color it ? Why the bold, tablet???why?

LittleBlue and KBeee, my mother also got fat necrosis at the surgical site.
My purse is a Baggallini and I pulled it out after just a few seconds. Water didn't penetrate through it, but some did get in through the open zipper. I dried everything with paper towels, and when I got home I sprayed it and its contents with Lysol. Fortunately I was the first of the day to use that rest room so the bowl had been cleaned.
I have type 2 diabetes that's under great control, but am also getting up several times a night. I figure my mucous membranes and bladder are still recovering from chemo. Also, the urinary catheter from surgery changed where my flow goes, so I'm having to learn a new "toilet posture."
"Chemo flushes" can continue for quite awhile, especially when we exercise or lose weight because some of the chemicals are sequestered in fat cells.
ETA:
LittleBlue, mine was frosty grey to start, but after a haircut it's back to brown with some grey, which is what it was before. Meanwhile, look at that fuzz on you!
Renee, I was already having hot flashes, then got chemo- and radiation-induced hot flashes. With Tamoxifen, they're actually getting milder (or maybe it's the time that's passed since chemo and radiation, but in any event, they're milder.) Eyebrow/lash hairs drop later because they're slower growing. They'll be back, but it's an annoyance.
-
littleblue, I am dreaming of the day I can color this silver hair of mine! I've read on random sites its best to wait 6 months, so you don't damage the hair......also some people have had their hair turn orange on them. I'm thinking a non-permanent color won't damage the hair too much and shouldn't turn it crazy colors. I'm going for it before too long.

Tutti the mighty hunter:
-
Okay, Halloween. I'm thinking this.
-
Round about 16 weeks PFC.
-
Tutti is such a doll! I want to squeeze her!
Does your shirt glow in the dark, ksusan? Because after radiation, it should!!!! Also, such a hairball! Soooooo jealous! How soon did it go from fuzzy crew cut to something you could style?
-
Agree about Tutti!
This shirt isn't glow-in-the-dark, but Amazon has many that are.
It looked like this 4 weeks ago:
I had it trimmed between this photo and the one above, which got rid of Einstein hairs.
-
looking good Frau Doktor!
-
interesting about the fat necrosis!
Renee, how many rads left? I am amazed about how much darker I get each day. Crazy! Being at the boosts means you should be nearing the finish line???!!! I have 9 left... 4 regular ones and 5 boosts. To me, that means no more bolus after Thursday! I have been taking daily pictures now! I am not exactly sure what will be in my boost area with so many surgeries, but I am guessing some of the axilla will. Yuk. I am sorry that area is so sore on you too. Definitely ready to move on from rads... Glad it is quicker than chemo!
Ksusan, Your hair is coming in so nice and thick and full! Nice shirt
-
8 weeks post still crazy fuzz. ;-(
-
Hey, good lookin'! That's some nice hair growth!
Kbeee, thanks. The shirt is a men's pima cotton from Crazy Shirt in Hawaii. They're the only shirts I've been able to tolerate until recently.
-
renee, your hair is so long!!!!
Ugh. I totally forgot I have to go to a wedding on Friday. Not only inconvenient for work, because I scheduled a meeting on that day, but for radiation as well. And...how to dress with a crew cut and no boobs and a very sore armpit? ? I don't thing the ambisexdrous boy look or the punk rock goddess look (my two go to looks for work) are going to cut it. Ugh. Ugah. Anything, as long as I don't look like a cancer patient!!!
-
Big silver or gold earrings, necklace, bracelets. Shawl/scarf.
-
Yep, go all gypsy on them, dangly things. Think Stevie Nicks! Gives people lots of bling to look at.
Or a coconut bra top and a grass skirt. Now that would give them something to talk about!
-
>>Or a coconut bra top and a grass skirt. Now that would give them something to talk about!
Hey! That's my look!
-
Italy, ironically I was in a fundraiser fashion show of art lingerie in college. My bra was made of wood. Cue ominous foreshadowing.
Ksusan, it's a good look!!!! Also useful if you need to ride away on a horse (Monty python)
-
Goat testicles? Is that to increase your progesterone?
-
I'm not sure. I read on another thread that in Asia goat testicles are thought to cure cancer. I figure it can't hurt (except the goat)
-
One of my high school classmates just went to a testicle festival, can you imagine? I'm sure a lot of men didn't have that festival high on their to do list haha
-
was it in Montana by chance? Because we have a huge Testicle Festival just down the road. Nope, never been, but I might need to now!
-
Illinois I think, kind of shocking
-
(shudder) I thought Montana was the home of all things hard core and gross lol. Good to know!
-
But... But... European Swallows are non- mi gra- ory
-
LMAO yes the testicle festival is here in Illinois. It is the turkey testicle fest at a pub in Huntley, IL about 30mins from me always around Thanksgiving www.parksidepubhuntley.com. Never been but have heard lots about it.
-
Ewwww! I never even considered that turkeys might have testicles lol. The one here is cow based.
-
Well, Jen, at least you still have Rocky Mountain Oysters. You have Rockies in MT, right?
-
Oh yes. We are snuggled right up to them. The mountains, not the testicles...
-
Huh. "Everything but the gobble," I guess.
Katy, it was an African swallow.
Gobble, swallow, coconuts--dinner time!
