Hello,

I was diagnosed with breast cancer stage 2(a) three years ago next month 10/12. Had chemo and radiation.

The next mammo 10/13 negative for cancer.

Next mammo 10 /14 negative for cancer.

About to go for my next mammo 10/9/15 and then a doctor visit on 10/20. But am scared. Have been on arimidex 2 years as I was Estrogen +. I didn't ask doctor and took Siberian Ginseng for last 3 months. Read something about it interfering with arimidex. Emailed doctor today and she simply said not to take it. Am so worried that I took it so long without knowing. Anyone out there do anything similar or know anything about this?

    Hi Saccancer-

We want to welcome you to our community here at BCO. We hope you find this to be a supportive place when you need it most!

Did your doctor seemed concerned about how long you'd been taking the ginseng? If she didn't express concern, we wouldn't worry too much about it. 3 months is unlikely to have much of an impact on the drug's effectiveness. We know it's hard not to worry, but if your doctor doesn't seem concerned and simply advised you to stop taking it, you can probably relax.

Good luck on your upcoming mammo, please keep us posted! We'll be thinking of you!

Thank you so much for your reply. No she did not seem concerned, although it was an email. But, she did simply say stop taking. I told her about a drink I was going to start drinking that had soy isolates, or some kind of concentrated soy protein in it. And, she said no don't start drinking that, but enjoy all the tofu you want. She's a very good oncologist. Very knowledgeable, very involved with and caring about her patients. I'm lucky to have her.

You have helped me also. I threw the stuff away. I hope I will help others on this Board. I've also had reconstructive surgery. I'm usually very positive because I've had really good care and an easy time of it.

Will let you know the result of my mammo!
